Market Access Virtually the whole market is controlled by Bayer and Syngenta. Sales are direct from manufacturers to seed companies. Bayer has about a 55% share of the canola seed market so uses its own treatments on its own seed. There are a limited number of other canola companies. The best opportunities are: establish generic clothianidin or thiamethoxam and compete on price. The value is primarily with the insecticide but a fungicide offer to go with it is required Find a treatment that enhances the current offers that can be added to the current treatment, such as something that controls club foot 根肿病 or promotes growth, for example. Market Geography The prairie provinces comprise the vast majority of the opportunity. Bayer s clothianidin 噻虫胺 is better than thiamethoxam 噻虫嗪. It also offers ipconazole 种菌唑, metalaxyl 甲霜灵, Poncho, Votivo, and penflufen 戊苯吡菌胺. Syngenta is a major supplier of fungicide seed treatments, including Apron XL (mefenoxam 精甲霜灵 ), Maxim 4FS (fludioxonil 咯菌腈 ), Dynasty (azoxystrobin 嘧菌酯 ) and newer introduction Vibrance (sedaxane 氟唑环菌胺 ). Fungicide seed treatments include long established ones, such as metalaxyl 甲霜灵, carboxin 萎锈灵, carbendazim 多菌灵 and thiram 福美双, also fludioxonil 咯菌腈. Carbendazim-thiram 多菌灵 - 福美双 is the leading product in Argentina, and hard to get changed because it is to cheap. BASF has a very high market share in Brazil with Standak Top, primarily because of fipronil for lesser corn stalk borer control. Standak Top contains fipronil 氟虫腈, Thiophanate-methyl 甲基托布津 Strobilurins, such as Syngenta s azoxystrobin 嘧菌酯, BASF s pyraclostrobin 吡唑醚菌酯 and Bayer s trifloxystrobin 肟菌酯, are also used. Recent introductions include Syngenta s Vibrance (sedaxane 氟唑环菌胺 ) and Bayer s Ilevo (fluopyram 氟吡菌酰胺 ). Bayer describes it as the first such product to control soil-borne sudden death syndrome. Seed treatment usage in China is low, and India tends to rely on older products.
