Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. (Genesis 22:3) 17 Him whom he believed God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did... 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed... 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. D) Abraham truly became the vessel through which God blessed all nations 16 Says the Lord: 17 blessing I will bless you... 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice. (Genesis22:16 18) 6 Just as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, In you all the nations shall be blessed. 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham... 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:6 9, 14) April 19 Friday Small Group Meeting Outline 1. Please ask 3 4 two group members to spend 5 10 minutes to briefly tell the important events in different stages of Abraham life (his calling, the challenges about the land of Canaan; and the challenges of having a son from Sarah). On each of the above stages, how did Abraham receive blessings from God and become a blessing to all families of the earth? 2. Please examine the meaning and value of our current living, based on the two purposes of Abraham s calling. In this coming week spend some quiet time (minimum 15 20 minutes) and from these two angles write down your current conditions, hopes for the future, and plans for improvement (Group leaders please select at least 5 persons to share); 3. In this week, let each of us think about an actualization plan for blessing others, from the perspective of the individual, family, and church (own service or meetings that you attend).
