In the artist s works, the vibrantly coloured pigment powder plays an integral aspect in his magnificent creation, of which the artist draws inspiration from the Indian traditions of Holi and Rangoli. This Mexican artist presents his vision through combining art and life in his creations: rather than using a fine-art material, Orozco used clay made by a brick factory in Mexico; many of his sculptures from the 1990s are altered ready-made objects, such as an elevator, car or bicycle. Being a central figure of his generation, Orozco s career was marked with his continuing innovation and knowledge in contemporary art. The Museum of Modern Art in New York is now showcasing the first major retrospective of Orozco, including around 80 of his overwhelming works of the past two decades.
