Journal of China Institute of Technology Vol.32-2005.5 Assessment of Property and Function of All-Purpose Natural Anti-Bacteria Cleanser 1 2 3 * Li-chun Wu Ying-chien Chung Sheng-shih Chang 1 2 3 ( ) (APEO) 100 ppm 100% 1% - LD 50 APEO APEO APEO Abstract This research addresses the characteristics of extraction from natural plant. Considerations are made of antibacterial activity, toxicity, and environmental protection. "Extract Cleanser has been evaluated of various antibacterial activities in comparison with commercial products. Analysis shows that "Extract Cleanser possesses high antibacterial activity against the six tested pathogens. "Extract Cleanser in 100 ppm could completely inhibit the activity of Escherichia coli, and 1% of plant extract was for Staphylococcus aureus. Also, "Extract Cleanser was more efficient in the antibacterial 33
activities than commercial antibacterial agents. Moreover, "Extract Cleanser was safe to organisms as the result of toxicity evaluation identified by LD 50. Nevertheless, the Environmental Hormone test indicate that the extraction may contain low concentration of alkylphenol polyethoxylate (APEO), one class of environmental contaminants associated with the degradation of the nonionic alkylphenol polyethoxylate surfactants, which a major impediment for the future environmental licensed application.
