Recircumscribing Berberis s.l. based on molecular and morphological data, with description of two new genera, Alloberberis and Moranthamnus Chih-Chieh Yu 1, Kuo-Fang Chung 2 1 School of Forestry and Resource Conservation, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 10617, Taiwan; 2 Research Center for Biodiversity, Academia Sinica, Taipei, 11529, Taiwan; [email protected] Whether the compound-leaved Mahonia should be recognized as a distinct genus or subsumed under Berberis has been long debated since its first publication in While recent molecular phylogenetic analyses have shown the paraphyly of Mahonia and some have advocated a broadly defined Berberis to include Mahonia, the acceptance of Berberis s.l. is not universal. Despite general acknowledgement over the paraphyly of Mahonia, due to analytic issues and inadequate sampling of previous studies, we argue that the phyletic nature of Mahonia and consequently the circumscription of Berberis s.l. remain problematic. In particular, Berberis claireae and Mahonia sect. Horridae, all species with a morphology transitional between Berberis s.str. and the rest of Mahonia species (core Mahonia) and inhabiting xeric habitats, have not been adequately sampled and phylogenetically well positioned. With the inclusion of these key species and an expanded sampling of core Mahonia, we reexamine the phylogenetic relationships of Berberis s.l. using three coding regions of chloroplast genome (accd, rbcl, and ndhf). Our analyses have revealed four clades within Berberis s.l., corresponding Berberis s.str., B. claireae, core Mahonia, and M. sect. Horridae, with the latter three forming paraphyletic grade sister to the simple-leaved Berberis. Because of their morphological and ecological distinctness and deep stem divergences equivalent to other genera of Berberidaceae, we propose a new classification of Berberis s.l. by applying a strict definition of Berberis (= Berberis s.str.), reinstating Mahonia (= core Mahonia), and proposing two new genera Alloberberis (= M. sect. Horridae) and Moranthamnus (B. claireae). This revised classification is consistent with the general perception of Berberis and sustains a monophyletic Mahonia, maintaining the stable usage of these two household names in both academic and nonacademic communities. Sw.) 廣 泛 分 布 於 全 世 界 熱 帶 及 亞 熱 帶 森 林 環 境, 是 膜 蕨 科 分 布 最 廣 的 類 群 之 一, 在 台 灣 普 遍 於 全 島 3000 公 尺 以 下 之 山 區 雖 然 已 有 研 究 指 出 細 葉 蕗 蕨 為 一 複 合 種 群 (species complex), 但 其 廣 大 的 分 布 範 圍, 整 體 外 觀 的 相 似 性, 與 大 量 的 異 名 則 讓 研 究 者 卻 步 本 研 究 嘗 試 以 東 亞 地 區 的 材 料 為 基 礎, 探 討 細 葉 蕗 蕨 種 群 之 演 化 及 分 類 依 據 葉 綠 體 rbcl 及 rps4-trns 序 列 進 行 譜 系 分 析, 結 果 顯 示 傳 統 定 義 的 細 葉 蕗 蕨 為 一 多 系 群, 東 亞 地 區 的 細 葉 蕗 蕨 複 合 群 則 包 含 萊 氏 蕗 蕨 (H. wrightii) 及 另 外 5 個 支 系, 且 各 支 系 間 存 在 穩 定 的 棲 地 與 形 態 差 異 經 比 較 相 關 模 式 標 本 後, 這 5 個 支 系 可 對 應 5 個 分 類 群, 包 含 一 新 種 (H. sp. nov.) 及 4 個 自 H. polyanthos 異 名 中 恢 復 獨 立 地 位 的 物 種, 分 別 為 早 田 氏 蕗 蕨 H. hayatae Masam. 圓 錐 孢 膜 蕨 H. paniculiflorum C.Presl 平 行 孢 蕗 蕨 H. parallelocarpum Hayata 及 細 葉 蕗 蕨 H. punctisorum Rosenst. 真 正 的 H. polyanthos 應 縮 限 於 美 洲 的 族 群, 而 舊 世 界 其 他 各 地 廣 義 細 葉 蕗 蕨 的 遺 傳 分 化 形 態 區 隔 與 分 類 處 理 仍 有 待 後 續 研 究 關 鍵 字 : 細 葉 蕗 蕨 複 合 種 群 多 系 群 分 類 22

We collected living fern plants with fungi in the field in the last 15 years. Because fresh material is used, cultures can be isolated and characterized molecularly in addition to detailed morphological characterization. We had found 5 new species of parasitic and 1 species of saprobic fungi as well as 4 new records of parasitic fungi on Taiwanese ferns. In addition, a new synonym and a new combination for two species described in Taiwan have been proposed by type studies. 30 2016 年 年 會 暨 植 物 多 樣 性 與 系 統 分 類 研 討 會 利 用 植 物 空 間 分 布 資 料 庫 探 討 台 灣 維 管 束 植 物 的 多 樣 性 特 有 性 及 地 理 親 緣 關 係 Assessing species richness, endemism and phytogeographical affinities of Taiwan based on an integrated vascular plants distribution database 林 奐 宇 1,2 謝 長 富 2 胡 哲 明 Huan-Yu Lin 1,2, Chang-Fu Hsieh 2, Jer-Ming Hu 2,3 1 林 業 試 驗 所 ; 2 國 立 台 灣 大 學 生 態 學 與 演 化 生 物 學 研 究 所 ; 3 通 訊 作 者 :[email protected] 1 Taiwan Forestry Research Institute; 2 IEEB, National Taiwan University; 3 Corresponding author:[email protected] 2,3 台 灣 地 處 中 國 大 陸 之 東 南, 為 座 落 於 日 本 及 菲 律 賓 之 間 的 大 陸 島 嶼, 全 島 呈 狹 長 之 南 北 走 向, 面 積 約 35,980 平 方 公 里 本 島 地 形 陡 峻, 山 地 及 丘 陵 所 佔 面 積 達 73.31%, 中 央 山 脊 則 達 海 拔 3,950 公 尺 受 到 多 樣 的 地 形 與 氣 候 狀 況 影 響, 以 及 本 島 位 處 於 亞 洲 熱 帶 邊 緣 的 地 理 特 性, 台 灣 不 僅 孕 育 了 多 樣 的 生 物 棲 地 以 及 極 高 的 維 管 束 植 物 多 樣 性, 已 記 錄 之 維 管 束 植 物 超 過 4,200 種, 且 其 植 物 地 理 與 東 亞 及 熱 帶 亞 洲 呈 現 極 高 的 相 關 性 本 研 究 整 合 了 國 內 重 要 標 本 館 及 主 要 生 物 資 源 調 查 計 畫 之 資 料, 建 構 成 為 具 有 地 理 定 位 之 空 間 資 料 庫, 迄 今 已 彙 整 4,596 種 維 管 束 植 物 共 計 1,336,029 筆 之 分 布 紀 錄 此 外, 利 用 地 理 資 訊 系 統 軟 體 將 台 灣 地 區 切 分 為 1,575 個 5 公 里 正 方 網 格, 再 針 對 包 含 50 筆 紀 錄 以 上 的 1,345 處 網 格 計 算 其 物 種 組 成 物 種 多 樣 性 及 特 有 率 研 究 結 果 顯 示, 除 了 部 分 難 以 到 達 而 缺 乏 資 料 的 中 央 山 區 以 外, 台 灣 的 維 管 束 植 物 多 樣 性 以 中 海 拔 山 區 及 蘭 嶼 最 高 整 體 資 料 庫 共 記 錄 了 1,052 種 特 有 種, 顯 示 台 灣 全 區 之 特 有 率 約 為 22.89%, 然 而 特 有 種 之 空 間 分 布 與 海 拔 呈 現 顯 著 的 相 關 性, 低 海 拔 平 原 地 區 之 特 有 率 約 僅 4%, 至 中 央 山 脈 高 海 拔 地 區 則 可 高 達 60% 以 上 另 就 原 生 維 管 束 植 物 之 亞 洲 分 布 情 形 進 行 分 析, 發 現 有 1,148 種 為 東 亞 地 區 分 布, 佔 全 台 物 種 之 24.98%, 另 有 1,016 種 為 熱 帶 亞 洲 分 布, 佔 全 台 物 種 之 22.11%; 然 而 兩 者 在 台 灣 之 空 間 分 布 呈 現 迥 異 情 形 : 東 亞 分 布 物 種 主 要 聚 集 於 中 部 以 北 之 中 海 拔 山 區, 而 熱 帶 亞 洲 物 種 則 以 恆 春 及 蘭 嶼 所 佔 比 例 最 高, 並 隨 緯 度 及 海 拔 梯 度 向 北 及 高 海 拔 遞 減 此 外, 本 研 究 發 現 中 央 山 脈 周 邊 部 分 地 形 相 對 隔 離 的 丘 陵 地, 其 東 亞 物 種 分 布 比 例 顯 著 高 於 同 海 拔 之 其 他 山 區, 推 測 可 能 與 東 北 季 風 迎 風 面 之 冷 溫 氣 候 環 境 有 關 關 鍵 字 : 台 灣 維 管 束 植 物 物 種 多 樣 性 特 有 率 地 理 分 布 Key words: Taiwan, Vascular plants, Species richness, Endemic percentage, Geographical distribution 27

35 2016 年 年 會 暨 植 物 多 樣 性 與 系 統 分 類 研 討 會 蛇 菰 屬 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 之 系 統 分 類 研 究 Systematics of Balanophora subgenus Balania (Balanophoraceae) 鄭 憲 燦 1 胡 哲 明 1, 2 Geng, Shian-Tsan 1, Jer-Ming Hu 1, 2 1 國 立 臺 灣 大 學 生 態 學 與 演 化 生 物 學 研 究 所 ; 2 通 訊 作 者 :[email protected] 1 Institute of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, National Taiwan University; 2 Corresponding author:[email protected] 蛇 菰 科 為 無 葉 綠 素 的 根 寄 生 植 物, 其 中 最 大 屬 蛇 菰 屬 (Balanophora) 其 下 可 分 為 蛇 菰 亞 屬 (subgenus Balanophora) 及 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 (subgenus Balania), 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 即 是 具 有 三 個 花 藥 的 類 群 2012 年 本 研 究 室 首 次 建 構 蛇 菰 屬 內 的 親 緣 關 係 樹, 確 認 過 去 被 歸 入 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 中 具 無 配 生 殖 的 日 本 蛇 菰 (B. japonica) 是 蛇 菰 亞 屬 穗 花 蛇 菰 (B. laxiflora) 的 近 緣 種, 也 確 認 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 是 一 具 高 支 持 度 的 單 源 類 群 ; 但 先 前 使 用 此 亞 屬 分 析 的 材 料 僅 包 含 臺 灣 產 之 海 桐 生 蛇 菰 (B. tobiracola Makino) 與 筆 頭 蛇 菰 (B. harlandii Hook. f.), 而 中 國 大 陸 所 產 的 筆 頭 蛇 菰 族 群 筒 鞘 蛇 菰 (B. involucrata Hook. f.) 川 藏 蛇 菰 (B. fargesii (Tieghem) Harms) 及 杯 莖 蛇 菰 (B. subcupularis Tam) 並 未 納 入 探 討 本 研 究 針 對 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 蛇 菰 之 雌 花 序 及 花 粉 形 態, 利 用 掃 描 式 電 子 顯 微 鏡 (SEM) 觀 察, 並 以 ITS 序 列 建 構 親 緣 關 係 樹 進 行 系 統 分 類 的 探 討, 亦 抽 取 寄 主 根 部 DNA 分 子 資 料 鑑 定 寄 主 筆 頭 蛇 菰 主 要 分 布 在 中 國 華 南 中 南 半 島 北 部 與 臺 灣 中 海 拔 森 林 底 層, 分 類 歷 史 中 也 有 許 多 同 物 異 名 被 發 表, 不 同 筆 頭 蛇 菰 族 群 之 間 亦 存 在 種 內 變 異 ; 為 探 討 其 是 否 有 隱 藏 種 的 可 能, 本 研 究 增 加 不 同 地 區 的 族 群 樣 本 進 行 分 析, 分 子 證 據 結 果 顯 示 筆 頭 蛇 菰 為 多 系 群 川 藏 蛇 菰 及 筒 鞘 蛇 菰 都 是 苞 片 基 部 相 連 成 鞘 狀 的 類 群, 在 分 類 歷 史 上 有 數 次 整 併 或 分 離, 除 性 別 表 現 不 同 以 外, 根 據 研 究 其 花 粉 及 附 屬 物 等 細 微 構 造, 發 現 兩 者 並 無 太 大 差 異, 分 子 證 據 也 支 持 兩 者 為 非 常 相 近 的 姊 妹 群 以 往 被 分 類 至 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 的 杯 莖 蛇 菰, 依 據 分 子 證 據 以 及 雌 花 著 生 於 附 屬 物 基 部 花 粉 具 有 三 個 萌 發 孔 等 蛇 菰 亞 屬 特 徵, 支 持 杯 莖 蛇 菰 歸 入 蛇 菰 亞 屬 中 關 鍵 字 : 蛇 菰 屬 三 藥 蛇 菰 亞 屬 系 統 分 類 ITS 序 列 掃 描 式 電 子 顯 微 鏡 Key word:balanophora, Balanophora subgenus Balania, Systematics, ITS sequences, SEM 32
