Undoubtedly the whole city was in commotion that day because of what had taken place, and certainly in every house that noon the one subject of conversation was Jesus of Nazareth, His teachings and His miracles. Many came that evening to be healed (Mk. 1:32). These healings ministered to the full range of physical needs. From one sick of a fever to those who were lame. From those possessed by demons to one defiled by leprosy. No need was too great for the Savior's power. No disease too loathsome for His great compassion. 1:32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 天晚日落的時候, 有人帶著一切害病的, 和被鬼附的, 來到耶穌跟前 LESSON NOTES: Healing and Praying: One of the hallmarks of 's gospel is his picture of Christ completely and thoroughly at the disposal of others, ready at all times to do them good. We see Jesus pressed so by the crowds that He is unable so much as to eat (see Mk. 3:20; 6:31). We also see Him intruded upon while sleeping in a ship after a weary day (Mk. 4:36-38). So it is that after a busy morning when Jesus is taken to Peter's home, undoubtedly for their noon meal, Jesus is confronted by the need of Peter's mother-in-law. This need was not too petty for the Lord. In fact, Luke, being a doctor and therefore an expert in the matter, calls it a "great fever" (Lu. 4:38). Christ's ministration was immediate and the woman's healing instantaneous. Note that Jesus "took her by the 'hand' (Mk. 1:31). The hand of Jesus, full of compassion, reached out and touched her. And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 耶穌出了會堂, 進了西門的家 西門的岳母害熱病甚重, 有人為他求耶穌 JESUS TOOK PETER S MOTHER-IN-LAW BY HER HAND 1:31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. 耶穌進前拉著他的手, 扶他起來, 熱就退了, 他就服事他們 That evening, when the sun set and the Sabbath regulations were ended, all that were sick in Capernaum were brought to Him and the entire town crowded at the door (vv. 32, 33). What the sick of even a small town implied can only be imagined. Fevers, convulsions, asthma, headaches, palsey, the deaf, the lame, the blind, and also "many that were possessed with devils. Again the compassion of Jesus shines through as He ministered to these needs and healed "many" (v. 34). 1: And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 天晚日落的時候, 有人帶著一切害病的, 和被鬼附的, 來到耶穌跟前 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 合城的人都聚集在門前 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. 耶穌治好了許多害各樣病的人, 又趕出許多鬼, 不許鬼說話, 因為鬼認識他 The next morning finds Jesus deep in prayer. We must not overlook that after a very busy day, Jesus rose a great while before day and prayed" (v. 35). But even here, in a solitary place, Jesus' privacy is intruded upon by Peter and the other disciples because many were seeking His help. Christ saw His own need of prayer as a necessity for His ministry; the disciples saw the needs of the people and the demands of a great multitude. If Jesus was provoked by this interruption we are not told. He does call on His disciples to go into other towns with Him to preach and to heal saying "for to this end came I forth" (v. 38). 2

3 JESUS ROSE A GREAT WHILE BEFORE DAY AND PRAYED 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. 次日早晨, 天未亮的時候, 耶穌起來, 到曠野地方去, 在那裡禱告 JESUS SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES FOR TO THIS END CAME I FORTH 1:38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. 耶穌對他們說 : 我們可以往別處去, 到鄰近的鄉村, 我也好在那裡傳道, 因為我是為這事出來的 Cleansing the Leper: During His tour of the synagogues of Galilee during which Jesus preached and cast out demons. He was met one day by a leper who "beseeching Him and kneeling down to Him" asking to be made clean. Leprosy was regarded as the most loathsome and terrible of diseases. It existed in various forms, but its invariable 不變的 feature was its foul uncleanness. The leper was an outcast. He was compelled to live apart from the dwellings of men. He was required to wear a covering over his mouth and to give warning of his approach by crying, "Unclean! Unclean!" His case was regarded as hopeless; he was reckoned as dead. Leprosy was both physically and ceremonially defiling and is a fitting emblem of sin. It was both out of the agony of loneliness and the great desire to be freed from such a terrible disease that the leper besought Jesus so earnestly. Two characteristics of Jesus' nature stand out in this incident. First, He was moved with compassion. This implies that He was not only pained by the sight of suffering, but that He had a strong desire to relieve or to remove the suffering. The heart of Jesus was ever filled with merciful kindness and feelings of pity for the distressed of every description. Whenever and wherever suffering and sorrow of body or soul met his eyes, he was moved with the will to help. The second characteristic of Jesus so present here is His touch. Here was a man who was untouchable by law and one who no doubt had gone years without feeling any human touch. Surely the Lord did not touch him without knowing what His touch would mean to this poor wretch. Jesus is mindful of our deepest needs. This tenderness of Jesus and His personal touch is seen repeatedly in. He took children in His arms and blessed them (Mk. 9:36; 10:16). We have already noted how He took Peter's wife's mother by the hand. He also took the blind man by the hand (Mk. 8:23) and the child with the dumb spirit and lifted them up (Mk. 9:27). With the leper, Jesus touched him, expressed His willingness to make him clean, and spoke the words which made him whole (Mk. 1:41). Then He sent him on his way to the priest to follow the procedure of the law which would restore him to company of other people and would once again entitle him to his right of temple worship (see Lev. 14:9-32). 4 JESUS LIFTED UP THE CHILD WITH THE DUMB SPIRIT 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. 但耶穌拉著他的手, 扶他起來, 他就站起來了 JESUS TOUCHED THE LEPER 1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. 耶穌動了慈心, 就伸手摸他, 說 : 我肯, 你潔淨了罷! THE LESSONS: Jesus came to earth for a purpose. He came to serve God by serving man. says He "came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many" (Mk. 10:45). He gave His life in service to others. It is for this purpose that He was sent forth from the Father. He came for and is available to us for all of our needs, physical and spiritual. He never tires of serving His people. 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. 因為人子來, 並不是要受人的服事, 乃是要服事人, 並且要捨命作多人的贖價 Two secrets to Christ's ministry are shown in this lesson: His prayer life, which was the secret of His power, and His compassion, which revealed the true feelings of His soul. Note that Jesus prayed in a "solitary place" where He could be free from distraction. Note also that He felt He needed prayer so much that He rose early after a tiring day to find time for it. If Jesus, the Son of God, found it so necessary to be alone with God for strength, how much more do we? The healing of the leper shows the deep inward communion between the sinless Son of God and sinful man. Leprosy is a type of sin and its defilement. We cannot have fellowship with God as sinners for we are unclean. We must first be cleansed. Notice that Jesus cleansed the leper of his leprosy; He got at the root of the situation. Many people come to Jesus wanting the consequences of their sin removed, but Jesus wants to remove the sin. No man unclean in sin ever sincerely came to Jesus for cleansing but he received it immediately. 4

8 Tuesday: Leviticus 14: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 耶和華曉諭摩西說 : 2 This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest: 長大痲瘋得潔淨的日子, 其例乃是這樣 : 要帶他去見祭司 ; 3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; 祭司要出到營外察看, 若見他的大痲瘋痊愈了 4 Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: 就要吩咐人為那求潔淨的拿兩隻潔淨的活鳥和香柏木 朱紅色線, 並牛膝草來 5 And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water: 祭司要吩咐用瓦器盛活水, 把一隻鳥宰在上面 6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: 至於那隻活鳥, 祭司要把他和香柏木 朱紅色線並牛膝草一同蘸於宰在活水上的鳥血中, 7 And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. 用以在那長大痲瘋求潔淨的人身上灑七次, 就定他為潔淨, 又把活鳥放在田野裡 8 And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days. 求潔淨的人當洗衣服, 剃去毛髮, 用水洗澡, 就潔淨了 ; 然後可以進營, 只是要在自己的帳棚外居住七天 9 But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean. 第七天, 再把頭上所有的頭髮與鬍鬚 眉毛, 並全身的毛, 都剃了 ; 又要洗衣服, 用水洗身, 就潔淨了 10 And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil. 第八天, 他要取兩隻沒有殘疾的公羊羔和一隻沒有殘疾 一歲的母羊羔, 又要把調油的細麵伊法十分之三為素祭, 並油一羅革, 一同取來 11 And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: 行潔淨之禮的祭司要將那求潔淨的人和這些東西安置在會幕門口 耶和華面前 8

9 12 And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: 祭司要取一隻公羊羔獻為贖愆祭, 和那一羅革油一同作搖祭, 在耶和華面前搖一搖 ; 13 And he shall slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest's, so is the trespass offering: it is most holy: 把公羊羔宰於聖地, 就是宰贖罪祭牲和燔祭牲之地 贖愆祭要歸祭司, 與贖罪祭一樣, 是至聖的 14 And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot: 祭司要取些贖愆祭牲的血, 抹在求潔淨人的右耳垂上和右手的大拇指上, 並右腳的大拇指上 15 And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand: 祭司要從那一羅革油中取些倒在自己的左手掌裡, 16 And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD: 把右手的一個指頭蘸在左手的油裡, 在耶和華面前用指頭彈七次 17 And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering: 將手裡所剩的油抹在那求潔淨人的右耳垂上和右手的大拇指上, 並右腳的大拇指上, 就是抹在贖愆祭牲的血上 18 And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD. 祭司手裡所剩的油要抹在那求潔淨人的頭上, 在耶和華面前為他贖罪 19 And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering: 祭司要獻贖罪祭, 為那本不潔淨 求潔淨的人贖罪 ; 然後要宰燔祭牲, 20 And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean. 把燔祭和素祭獻在壇上, 為他贖罪, 他就潔淨了 9

And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 耶穌伸手摸他, 說 : 我肯, 你潔淨了罷! 他的大痲瘋立刻就潔淨了 4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 耶穌對他說 : 你切不可告訴人, 只要去把身體給祭司察看, 獻上摩西所吩咐的禮物, 對眾人作證據 11:1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. 耶穌吩咐完了十二個門徒, 就離開那裡, 往各城去傳道, 教訓人 2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 約翰在監裡聽見基督所作的事, 就打發兩個門徒去, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? 問他說 : 那將要來的是你麼? 還是我們等候別人呢? 4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 耶穌回答說 : 你們去, 把所聽見, 所看見的事告訴約翰 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 就是瞎子看見, 瘸子行走, 長大痲瘋的潔淨, 聾子聽見, 死人復活, 窮人有福音傳給他們 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. 凡不因我跌倒的就有福了! 10

13 Friday: Luke 5:12-16; 7: :12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 有一回, 耶穌在一個城裡, 有人滿身長了大痲瘋, 看見他, 就俯伏在地, 求他說 : 主若肯, 必能叫我潔淨了 13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 耶穌伸手摸他, 說 : 我肯, 你潔淨了罷! 大痲瘋立刻就離了他的身 14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 耶穌囑咐他 : 你切不可告訴人, 只要去把身體給祭司察看, 又要為你得了潔淨, 照摩西所吩咐的獻上禮物, 對眾人作證據 15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 但耶穌的名聲越發傳揚出去 有極多的人聚集來聽道, 也指望醫治他們的病 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. 耶穌卻退到曠野去禱告 AFTER 7:16 JESUS RAISED A WIDOW S SON And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. 眾人都驚奇, 歸榮耀與神, 說 : 有大先知在我們中間興起來了! 又說 : 神眷顧了他的百姓! 17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about. 他這事的風聲就傳遍了猶太和周圍地方 18 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. 約翰的門徒把這些事都告訴約翰 19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 他便叫了兩個門徒來, 打發他們到主那裡去, 說 : 那將要來的是你麼? 還是我們等候別人呢? 20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 那兩個人來到耶穌那裡, 說 : 施洗的約翰打發我們來問你 : 那將要來的是你麼? 還是我們等候別人呢? 21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 正當那時候, 耶穌治好了許多有疾病的, 受災患的, 被惡鬼附著的, 又開恩叫好些瞎子能看見 13

14 22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. 耶穌回答說 : 你們去, 把所看見所聽見的事告訴約翰, 就是瞎子看見, 瘸子行走, 長大痲瘋的潔淨, 聾子聽見, 死人復活, 窮人有福音傳給他們 23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. 凡不因我跌倒的, 就有福了! 14

15 Saturday: Numbers 5:1-4; Deuteronomy 24:1-8 Numbers 5:1-4 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 耶和華曉諭摩西說 : 2 Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is defiled by the dead: 你吩咐以色列人, 使一切長大痲瘋的, 患漏症的, 並因死屍不潔淨的, 都出營外去 3 Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell. 無論男女都要使他們出到營外, 免得污穢他們的營 ; 這營是我所住的 4 And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel. 以色列人就這樣行, 使他們出到營外 耶和華怎樣吩咐摩西, 以色列人就怎樣行了 Deuteronomy 24:1-8 1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 人若娶妻以後, 見他有甚麼不合理的事, 不喜悅他, 就可以寫休書交在他手中, 打發他離開夫家 2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. 婦人離開夫家以後, 可以去嫁別人 3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 後夫若恨惡他, 寫休書交在他手中, 打發他離開夫家, 或是娶他為妻的後夫死了, 4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. 打發他去的前夫不可在婦人玷污之後再娶他為妻, 因為這是耶和華所憎惡的 ; 不可使耶和華 你神所賜為業之地被玷污了 5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken. 新娶妻之人不可從軍出征, 也不可託他辦理甚麼公事, 可以在家清閒一年, 使他所娶的妻快活 6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge. 不可拿人的全盤磨石或是上磨石作當頭, 因為這是拿人的命作當頭 15

16 7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you. 若遇見人拐帶以色列中的一個弟兄, 當奴才待他, 或是賣了他, 那拐帶人的就必治死 這樣, 便將那惡從你們中間除掉 8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do. 在大痲瘋的災病上, 你們要謹慎, 照祭司利未人一切所指教你們的留意遵行 我怎樣吩咐他們, 你們要怎樣遵行 16
