This marvelous mixer provided fantastic opportunities to businesses to connect to each other and gain a good ideal of business information from the hot topics. Over 100 exhibitors participated in and obtained wonderful effort from this expo. During the event, the Professional Speaker, Author and Globally Recognized Retail Prophet, Doug Stephens gave the keynote presentation-retail Prophet -The Future of Consumerism. In addition, Jill Youland, from Eureka! Ranch International, taught local business people the better way to communicate their business or technology to make potential clients, investors, distributors understand their business better and quicker. This 6 hours mixer gained such a success in the commercial history PEI and promoted the business development of PEI. Canadian & China international business newspaper was invited to attend this splendid event. In this Expo, the agents of our newspaper deeply discussed the future business development plan and the cooperation possibilities with other local business people. Last year Citizen on Patrol volunteers reported 64 incidents and logged more than 1200 hours. The types of reported episodes included break and enters, property damage, impaired driving, and suspicious or disorderly conduct. Successful volunteers are 18 years of age or older and receive two days of supervised training. Don t wear out the interrogation, but do your homework. When feasible, call a plumber with a real request. This could be to change a faucet, add a hose connection or clear a drain. Get to know your plumber before you have an emergency. But many Canadians don t have the cash flow to make the most of their RRSP contributions. Taking an RRSP loan can help you maximize your annual contribution or catch up on unused RRSP contribution room. It means putting more money to work now in an effort to help grow your savings for the future. Let s say you make a regular lump sum RRSP contribution of $5,000 and expect your contribution will produce a tax refund. These three scenarios show how an RRSP loan can maximize your contributions: Scenario one-contribute what you ve already planned In this scenario, you would contribute each year without taking a loan- in this case, assuming a 39 percent marginal tax rate, a $5,000 contribution would create a tax refund of $1,919. Scenario two-accelerate your contribution With an accelerated contribution, you take out a loan equal to the tax refund you d receive in the first scenario and add it to your regular RRSP contribution of $5,000. In this example, you would contribute a total of $6,919 to your RRSP. This increases your contribution which then gives you a higher tax refund and increases your retirement savings. When you receive your refund, you could use it to pay off the loan and still have some left to spend however you want. The direct cost to you is minimal a few months of interest on the loan. Scenario three Maximize your contribution This strategy creates the greatest opportunity for your RRSP growth. In this case, you d borrow what you expect would be your tax refund from your total RRSP contribution plus the additional refund generated by the loan amount. You d then use your tax refund to repay the loan. Again, the direct cost to you would be few months of interest on the loan. Choose the option right for you An RRSP loan helps take your RRSP contributions to the next level at little cost to you you can see the difference in value over 10, 20 and 30 years. Three hundred and sixty connections have been made during the past year. Currently there are about 40 active participants. The Connector Program includes a series of connecting activities. The most common format is one-on-one meeting. Newcomers come to the office with a business idea, needing information and contacts. We try to help them by providing the business information they need and as well connecting them with the right contacts. 6 & 6 meetings is another networking event held monthly. We invite six local business leaders and professionals to meet with six of our clients. It has been an effective way for both local and newcomer business people to expand their network. With the goal to serve our clients better, an Advisory Committee was formed from local business leaders who offer their knowledge, expertise and connections to make the program more effective. The committee is chaired by former MP Shawn Murphy, over the past year it has provided valuable inputs to the development of the program. Committee members meet regularly to discuss issues identified by the office, to try to resolve the problems our clients encounter, and to strategize future directions for the program. PEI Connectors has provided valuable help in the business establishment process for its clients. With great support from the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, contribution from the Advisory Committee, time and efforts from its Connectors, and dedication from the Connectors staff, many new immigrants have developed a concrete understanding of doing business on PEI, and a number of them have already got into business here. Others have secured employment while preparing to get a business started. In addition, the program has helped establish the Island Chinese Business Association (ICBA), with the hope of establishing an Iranian Association in the future. 12 October, 2012 A 12 Eastern 房产 Heating oil is a liquid petroleum product that is widely used for homes in Prince Edward Island. Heating oil is commonly delivered by tank truck to residential buildings through a fill Pipe (see inset) which is outside your home. Home heating oil is stored in above ground storage tanks (see inset) located in basements or outside adjacent to the building. On the top of the storage tank is a gauge which is a device that measures the volume of fuel in your oil tank. To provide heat, a thermostatwhich is located on a wall in your home-senses the current temperature and sends a signal to your furnace to provide heat if the temperature in the home goes below a desired set point. The desired temperature in your home can be adjusted to your preference. Your hot water requirements for showers, baths or dishwashing can also be regulated by your furnace. There are two different methods a customer can use to receive fuel from your supplier. The most common system used by home owners is automatic fuel delivery. Your fuel supplier will ensure you receive your fuel requirements in a systematic manner without running out. This system is based on variables such as the size of your home, past consumption history and current weather conditions. The other delivery system is "call-in". In this, the customer is responsible for monitoring the amount of fuel in their tank themselves and simply calls his fuel supplier and orders his/her fuel. To establish a credit account with a fuel supplier, a home heating application is filled out. There are usually three sections in an application form. The first section asks you for your mailing address, phone numbers and address. The second section is related to credit. A credit manager can perform a proper credit check to see if the applicant has a sound credit history. In this part of the form, you will be asked for information such as your birth date and/or a social insurance number (which is optional). This information is taken for the sole purpose of identifying the applicant with the credit bureau. The third section of the form is related to the equipment that is presently in your home. This section is a little more technical and your supplier may have to help you out with filling out the information. It involves variables such as what kind of furnace or boiler you have in your home, the size of your oil tank and other related questions. This information will help your fuel supplier service your home in a more efficient manner. Some people push the thought completely out of their minds, thinking, Why put money into something that won t pay until after I m dead? Good question, but life insurance isn t really for the person whose life is insured. It gives protection and security to the living -- the spouse, children, and loved ones left behind after the person insured dies. Depending on the value of the policy, the person named as the beneficiary could receive $10,000, $100,000 or even $1 million. That money could go a long way toward paying funeral costs, the mortgage and day-to-day bills. Your insurance advantage One of the major advantages of owning life insurance, in addition to protecting your family, is that the death benefit you receive from a life insurance policy is tax-free -- and we all know that s a good thing. Obviously, the higher the policy s death benefit or the type of insurance purchased, the higher the amount you pay for your coverage (the premium). Each kind of life insurance has its advantages and limitations. Depending on your life stage and other factors, one kind may meet your needs better than the others. What s the difference between term and permanent insurance? is a frequently asked question. Term insurance Term insurance covers a specific period (or term), say five, 10 or 20 years. If you pass away during this period, your beneficiary receives the death benefit stated on the policy. If you pass away even one day after the policy expires, your beneficiary won t receive anything. The length of the term is important because after the term, you may not be insurable. Your health may have deteriorated, or you may have contracted an illness, making you too high of a risk to be insured again. If you re still insurable after the term ends, your premiums will likely increase because you re older and a higher risk to the insurance company. Whatever your age, though, term insurance typically has a lower premium than a permanent policy of comparable value. Term insurance is an affordable, simple step in your financial strategy. It provides temporary protection for now, with the flexibility to adjust your insurance to meet your needs in the future. Premiums are guaranteed and will automatically renew at the end of each term. Even if your health may have deteriorated, or you may have contracted a disease or illness, your insurance coverage will continue to renew until the expiry (usually age 75 or 80). If during that time, renewal premiums are too expensive, you can choose to convert your term insurance to permanent insurance that will have a guaranteed level premium for the lifetime of your coverage. Term insurance meets a particular need, for example to ensure your family has money to pay for a mortgage, a car payment, or tuition after you die. It gives you affordable protection with the flexibility to choose from a wide range of terms. Permanent or whole life insurance A permanent life insurance policy covers you for as long as you live, rather than just a specific term. Advisors often recommend that if you re under a specific age, you should buy permanent insurance as protection against future medical problems. Your premiums will stay the same regardless of your health. A permanent policy typically has a cash value. This is the amount of money you ll receive if you allow your policy to lapse by not paying the premiums, or cancelling the coverage. The cash value is based on the premiums you ve paid and grows over time because the insurance company invests those payments at a fixed rate for you. Your policy may allow you to take out a loan secured by this cash value. If you die before you ve paid back the loan in full, your beneficiary s death benefit will be decreased by the unpaid amount. With term life insurance, you protect your beneficiary. With a permanent policy, you pay a higher premium, but you have the opportunity to both protect your beneficiary and have a cash value. Universal life Universal life insurance is a form of permanent insurance that provides lifetime protection with lots of flexibility. With universal life, you have a policy fund, which is your cash value and acts like a cash reserve. This reserve holds both your basic payments and any additional lump sum payments you make. Your cost of insurance is deducted from your policy fund and the rest is left to accumulate interest. But unlike a regular permanent plan where your cash value increases at a fixed rate, the cash value of your universal life policy achieves an interest rate that mirrors the performance of the market indexes or managed fund accounts you select to have your policy track. You don t pay tax on the interest in your policy fund unless you withdraw it or exceed the maximum tax-exempt limit. If there s enough in your policy fund to cover your cost of insurance, you can skip a payment because it will be deducted from the amount you ve already paid into your policy fund. Depending on the kind of universal life insurance you purchase, your beneficiary may receive not only the amount of the death benefit (your insurance coverage), but also the amount in your policy fund. You can also include additional coverage like critical illness insurance and term coverage for your spouse or children on your universal life policy. How much is enough? When most people think about life insurance, they usually have two main questions: how much coverage do I need, and how long do I need it for? Many financial experts advise that the total value of all your life insurance policies should equal five to seven times your annual income. If you re the primary salary earner, you should have coverage that equals six to 10 times your annual income; and if you re a young adult with
