Ltd.Shanghai 232China Abstract The stormwater runoff management in Beijing Yongding River ecological new district was studied and analyzed. The ideas for planning and design of sponge cities were proposed for implementing the low impact development from three stages including parcels streets and watershed. Modeling for BMP selection /site layoutsimulation and analysis of runoff management and control for existing conditionplanning condition and low impact development condition was conducted through SUSTAIN. The implementation results of various BMPs were proved successfully by using stormwater runoff and flooding models. The design idea of sponge cities using low impact development techniques is very important for stormwater runoff management and control in the studied areaand can be a guidance for similar studies in the future.
