A combination of the word frequency analysis (quantitative) and the content analysis (qualitative) research techniques was employed to analyze 30 reflective journals written by the online game players. Results showed that the game-play motivation could be basically categorized into eight genres, including leisure and entertainment, social affiliation, sense of achievement, control and power, escapism & excitement, role playing, deep and others motivations.
