TEACHER S CORNER: We love all of our students at St. Joseph School, but we have a special new student breakfast in September to get to know these new faces. OCTOBER IS NATIONAL BULLY PREVENTION MONTH We kicked the month off by hosting a Wear Blue Dress Down Day this Monday, Oct. 2. Students and teachers will spend the month going out of their way to do good deeds and make sure everyone feels included in our school. Our first good deed includes making a donation to the Andrew Weishar Foundation. 100% of all proceeds go to help families in need. The AWF mission is to provide immediate resources to families with adolescents or young adults stricken with cancer. They provide financial assistance to these families in need and dedicate themselves to acts of kindness and generosity. PEREGRINE DEVOTION Our next St. Peregrine Healing Service is Tuesday, October 10 at 7:00pm in the Church. All parishioners and members of the community who are suffering from any illness are welcome to attend. Afterward, a Prayer Team will be available to pray with those in need. As Jesus called and sent out His Apostles to go and share the gospel, we too are being called to share in this ministry. Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit we become Christ's hand, feet and voice. We love with His heart and serve those who are suffering in body, mind, and spirit. What then is healing prayer? Healing prayer is when a (baptized) person or group of people pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, for or over someone, for their needs. The goal is that a person be healed and set free from whatever is holding them captive or imprisoning them, preventing them from living fully as God intends. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name... They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. --Mk 16:17 CEF 2017 ANNUAL REPORT COMING SOON Each year the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) mails its Annual Report to all CEF donors. For all parishioners interested in Catholic education funding in our diocese, this Annual Report serves as a significant informational guide. Since 1996, the CEF has awarded nearly $21 million in scholarships and $450,000 in ministry grants to schools and parishes in our diocese. For the benefit of many of our parish children, last year the CEF provided $2 million in financial aid to over 1,600 students. OUR LADY OF FATIMA NOVENA The 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima will be concluding on October 13. As a celebration of this anniversary our parish will conduct an OUR LADY OF FATIMA NOVENA commencing on October 5 and concluding on October 13. The novena will be said in the church beginning at 3:00 pm with prayers and recitation of the rosary. Everyone is welcome to attend the daily prayers dedicated to Our Lady.
