SA48/1516/120 18 th May, 2016 S.4 and S.5 Second Term Examination (2015-2016) 1. Examination Period Second Term Examination (2015-2016) will take place during the following periods: For S.4 students: from 10 th June, 2016 to 28 th June, 2016, and For S.5 students: from 6 th June, 2016 to 28 th June, 2016. 2. Arrival Time On the dates specified in the examination time-table (see Appendix 1), students have to return to school 15 minutes before the examination commences and check the seating arrangement displayed at the entrance of the examination room. 3. Late Arrivals Students who arrive late but within half an hour after the start of the paper will be admitted, except for the English Language Listening Examination (Paper 3), English Language Oral Examination (Paper 4) as well as the Chinese Language Listening Examination (Paper 3). No extra time will be given to late-comers. No supplementary examination will be arranged for students who miss an examination session because of lateness and students will score zero mark in the paper concerned. 4. Early leave a) No early leave is permitted in the examination. b) Students must swipe their student card when they enter the school premise. They can leave only when they have finished all the exams on that day. Students are not allowed to leave the school premise between two exam sessions. 5. Request for Make-up Examination a) Whatever the reason(s), make-up examinations will NOT be arranged for English Language Listening Examination (Paper 3), English Language Oral Examination (Paper 4) as well as Chinese Language Listening Examination (Paper 3). For other examinations,
make-up examinations may be arranged for those who fail to sit the term examination owing to one of the following: - (i) Sick leave The students concerned must inform the General Office of the sick leave by 8:30 a.m. on the day of the examination. Upon recovery, when they return for class/examination, they must produce a medical certificate (by a registered doctor of Hong Kong) and make the request for a make-up examination via the subject teacher. (ii) Casual leave (with a very strong and well-justified reason approved by the school authority) Casual leave is normally not granted. Those who request a make-up examination must approach the teacher-in-charge, Mr. Yeung Wing Shing (YWS), at least 2 school days before the date of the examination, with well-supported reasons, and documents, if any. b) Requests for make-up examinations must be made during the examination period. Late applications will not be entertained. It is also not possible for students to take supplementary examinations for more than two subjects. c) 30% of the marks the students score in the make-up examinations will be deducted. 6. Calculators Calculators the students use in the examination must have the H.K.E.A.A. Approved label or the students will risk a mark penalty. (List of HKEAA Approved Calculators : Appendix 2) 7. Listening examinations The listening examinations of English Language (Paper 3) and Chinese Language (Paper 3) will be broadcast via an Infra-red (IR) Transmission System. Students MUST bring their own earphones for plugging into the receivers (diameter of plug: 3.5 mm) provided by the school. A mark penalty will be imposed on students who do not bring earphones. 8. Use of electronic devices Students are not allowed to use electronic devices such as mobile phones and smart watches in school. If these devices ring during the examination, the students will receive a mark penalty.
9. Bad Weather In the case of inclement weather, upon the announcement of the Education Bureau to close schools, the examinations will be postponed. The examinations concerned will be re-scheduled to another date. For any examination day(s) a. from 6/6/2016 to 10/6/2016, the examination(s) will be arranged on 11/6/2016 (Sat). b. from 13/6/2016 to 17/6/2016, the examination(s) will be arranged on 18/6/2016 (Sat). c. from 20/6/2016 to 24/6/2016, the examination(s) will be arranged on 25/6/2016 (Sat). d. from 27/6/2016 to 28/6/2016, the examination(s) will be arranged on 29/6/2016 (Wed). Notices concerning re-scheduling of other examination sessions, if any, will be uploaded to the School Homepage (www.sfc-plk.edu.hk). Students must check for the latest arrangement of the time and date OR they may phone the General Office (2390 5010) for the details. 10. Promotion Criteria To be promoted, a S4 and S5 student must (a) obtain level 2 in the four core subjects* (Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies), and (b) not fail* in more than one subject, and (c) obtain a conduct grade of B- or above, and (d) attain an attendance rate not less than 85%, and (e) if applicable, complete FALSI classes satisfactorily. * Starting from this year, students examination score will be converted to levels as in the HKDSE Examination.
