1 NTCH Young Star Series 高慈長笛獨奏會 KAO Tzu Flute Recital 近年在國際樂壇上, 來自台灣的音樂家與日俱增, 而兩廳院對年輕音樂家的發掘培育, 也已持續耕耘 20 餘年 1989 年兩廳院就開始每年舉辦樂壇新秀甄選, 並為他們舉辦音樂會, 提供我國優秀年輕音樂家展現實力與才華的機會經由這個計畫的選拔培訓和演出, 兩廳院陸續發掘的優秀年輕音樂家至今已達 295 名, 獲選的樂壇新秀中, 與國家交響樂團 (NSO) 或國家國樂團 (NCO) 的合作演出達 255 場 2013 兩廳院樂壇新秀系列音樂會一共 4 場演出, 推出 3 名閃亮新秀 : 林威震 ( 擊樂 ) 王建堂 ( 小提琴 ) 高慈 ( 長笛 ), 另外並邀請去年的新秀古箏演奏家郭岷勤再度回到兩廳院, 以室內樂的形式演出這四位新秀對音樂藝術的詮釋, 讓我們看見精煉的技巧與不容小覷的潛力兩廳院期望藉由樂壇新秀的甄選演出, 給予國內音樂新人更多的支持與鼓勵, 累積他們未來於台灣音樂領域發光發熱的能量, 持續為台灣音樂接棒增分 Rising Talents - Young Stars Series Dedicated to the scouting for and cultivation of young musicians for more than 20 years, the NTCH initiated this annual audition in 1989 to select outstanding young artists and organize performance opportunities for them to demonstrate their skills and talents. Throughout the years, NTCH has presented a total of 295 young musicians, and some of them have performed with either the NSO or the NCO in 255 concerts. The Young Stars Series 2013 features four concerts with one Young Star of Chinese Music, KUO Min-chin (Zheng), selected in 2012 and three rising performers: LIN Wei-chen (Percussion), WANG Chien-tang (Violin), KAO Tzu (Flute). Through their interpretation of music, this troupe of musical talent is about to delight the audience with refined skills and unlimited potentials. The NTCH reaffirms its support for the new generation musicians through the Young Stars Series every year, and provides them with opportunities to take the baton and shine on the Taiwan s musical future :30PM

6 5 高慈長笛獨奏會 11 Gary Schocker Philippe Bernold Vincent Lucas Profile KAO Tzu, flute KAO Tzu was born in Taipei in At the age of nine, she started to play flute as a major study in talented music school. KAO has given concerto performances with Royal Academy Sinfonia, National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) Symphony Orchestra, and Taipei Municipal University Symphony Orchestra, and she was also invited to perform in the concerts at the 1 st and 3 rd International Flute Festival (Taiwan); the Messiaen Festival at the Southbank Centre in 2008 (London, UK); the 7 th Malcolm Arnold Festival in 2009 (Northampton, UK), and the 5 th Congress of Asia Flutists Federation in 2012 (Taiwan). As a chamber musician and recitalist, she has performed in Australia, Italy, the UK, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan in such as Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, Westminster Cathedral, Royal & Derngate Theatre, Duke s Hall, National Concert Hall, National Recital Hall, Novel Hall and SinoPac Centre. KAO has won many competitions and awards both nationally and internationally, including Jo Weinberg Flute Award, J& J Flute Brough Prize, Young Artist Show, New Taipei City Music Competition, and Taiwan Music Competition. She has performed in the masterclasses by Maxence Larrieu, Robert Langevin, Emily Beynon, Dieter Flury, Robert Aitken, Amy Porter, Trevor Wye, Karen Jones, Lorna McGhee, Paul Edmund-Davies and other famed masters. In 2006, she received her master's degree in flute performance and graduated from the NTNU. In 2009, she received her Diploma of Postgraduate Performance as well as Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music (Dip RAM) from Royal Academy of Music where she studied with William Bennett OBE (flute) and Patricia Morris (piccolo). WU Ssu-hui, piano Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1979, she received her first piano lesson at the age of four from her mother, and was later taught to play the cello by her uncle. She won many competitions for piano and composition in Taiwan. WU Ssu-hui began her career at the age of thirteen at the Xing-Ming junior high school. She then continued her studies at the National Taiwan University of Arts. In 2002, WU made her National Concert Hall debut with the Orchestra of National Taiwan University of Arts, under the direction of LI Xuen-Fong, performing MA Shui-Long s Piano Concerto Capriccio of Kuando. She had traveled with some musicians to Japan and China to perform traditional and modern Chinese music, as well as some Western music. She has been invited to be the piano accompanist in the concerts of many musicians from other countries, including French saxophonist Danial Gremelle, Korean saxophonist Kim Daewoo, Swedish flutist Anders Norell, and American composer and flutist Gary Schocker. Her master s degree was completed in piano performance at Lee University, in Cleveland, TN, USA, where she studied under pianist Ning An s studio. During her time at Lee, she earned a full-tuition scholarship and was a two time winner of the Honors Recital Award. She was also a winner of the Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition in Following her graduation, WU worked at Lee University as a part time faculty. Now she is a piano collaborator who has been invited to perform with many famous musicians including Petri Alanko, SHIN Hyun-Su, HU Chih-Wei, Trevor Wye, William Bennett, Philippe Bernold, and Vincent Lucas.
