When you pray When you pray, Jesus said in Matthew 6:5. He made the simple assumption that his followers would do just that they would pray! Something so simple, yet a prayer from one of his children (you!) can touch the heart of God. This guide wasn t penned by one author, rather 25 people or so prayerfully sought the Lord s leading in what they should share concerning their areas of ministry. They have written for all of us a few words to help us better pray for them, their ministry, and the people BICF has the privilege to minister to. As a result, you hold in your hands a labor of love and a powerful tool that the Holy Spirit can use to effect positive change in Beijing, throughout China, and the rest of the globe. Focus This guide will lead you to pray for 2 main things: the congregations and ministries of BICF. Keep a couple things in mind: as you pray for the congregations, feel free to go beyond the sample prayer. Pray for all aspects of that congregation: their leadership, the people of the congregation, the many volunteers, their vision, their outreach efforts, etc. And as you pray for the ministries (such as youth, worship, etc), please pray for that ministry as it takes place within your own congregation, and also pray for that ministry in the greater context of the BICF family. Terminology The congregations of BICF meet in several locations throughout the city, but there are two main campuses that you ll notice in this guide: 21st Century. This name simply comes from the name of the hotel where we meet, The 21st Century Hotel. This is our main campus in PRAYER guide 01

3 the northeast side of the city. ZGC stands for Zhong Guan Cun ( 中关村 ), which is the name of a neighborhood within Beijing. ZGC is our main campus on the northwest side of the city. Order of days For the most part, the various ministries and congregations that you ll encounter in this prayer guide have been listed in alphabetical order. This is for ease of layout (on the editor s part), and to make it easier for you to lookup one of the groups. The only exceptions to this were day 1 (praying for the ministry of intercession at BICF, which seems like an appropriate place to start a prayer guide!) and day 31 (Easter Sunday), which focuses on our vision for the future. down and lift that ministry before the Lord. Layout Each day will include 3 elements: an introduction to a congregation, ministry, or an aspect of our vision. a verse that has special meaning to this group. Pray the truth of that verse for the group you re praying for. a sample prayer. This sample prayer can just be viewed as a starting point. As mentioned above, please feel free to go beyond the printed prayer, and let the Holy Spirit lead you as you pray for that day s group. Final Thought This guide is admittedly incomplete. We intentionally limited ourselves to create a 30-day guide, but that carries a risk. In limiting the guide to 30 days, there s a very good chance we ve left something out. If you think of additional things to pray for as you go though this guide, assume it s the Holy Spirit leading you to pray for that congregation, ministry, or vision! 4 - Ezekiel 22:30-1 Timothy 2:1 Day 1, Friday, March 6 Intercessory prayer: Intercessory prayer is a ministry in BICF which comprises Intercessor groups from all congregations in BICF, elders, and anyone who is interested in the ministry of intercession. In addition to other times of prayer in various places throughout the city, we meet as a large group every first Sunday of the month from 1:30-2:30pm in chapel A (21st Century). Prayer plays an important role in our world. Without prayer churches, families, nations, etc. are in turmoil. Our Heavenly Father has commanded us to call upon Him (Mathew 7 :7; Jeremiah 33:3) and to intercede for others as He did and is still doing. We follow the example of our Lord Jesus, the greatest mediator, to stand in the gap for individuals, families, churches, and nations. Intercession is mediating with God on behalf of another person, persons or groups. As God helps us, we go a long way with our intercession to places we can t go to physically. Ezekiel 22:30: And I sought a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. 1 Timothy 2:1: First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men. Prayer: Join us in thanking God that Jesus is still interceding for us. Ask God to raise up men and women who will intercede in BICF. Pray that God will help each BICF congregation to have intercessory groups, and to see the need to meet with others for prayer. Ask God to pour out the spirit of intercession on every member of BICF, and make BICF a praying church indeed. Day 2, SATURDAY, March 6 21st Century African (AOM) It s been 10 years since the first gathering of the AFRICAN OUTREACH MINISTRY (AOM). Praise the Lord for an amazing AOM decade! As a congregation, we are so blessed to be part of what God is doing through the Beijing International Christian Fellowship (BICF) here in this city. And we are so encouraged by the life-transforming testimonies in our church which always serves as a constant reminder that God loves His people and that He is indeed at work in our midst. We use the FEAST acronym to explain our heartbeat: Family, Evangelism, African, Service, and Teaching. In your prayer today, we ll focus on the A of this acrostic (African). African: In the past few years there has been a great influx of foreigners in China and many of them are African particularly in Beijing. Different BICF ministries are targeting particular people groups and at AOM, it is our heart s cry to reach out and impact the African community in Beijing with the love and life of Christ. Our style and church programs are intentionally designed in a way that most Africans can easily relate to. The Apostle Paul says to the Jews he became a Jew in order to win them. We want to create an environment in which most of our brothers and sisters can come in 04 PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 05

5 - John 15:8 and feel the sense of belonging as they sing the songs they sing back home, and be free to express themselves the way that suits them and those around them. Furthermore, 2015 has been declared as The Year of Fruitfulness in AOM. We are believing God for fruitfulness in all aspects of our lives to the glory of God. John 15:8: This is to my Father s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. Prayer: Lord we thank you for all the doors you have opened for many Africans to come and study, work and do business here in China. For those that are still in need of jobs, visas, accommodation, etc. we pray that you provide for them in ways that will bring glory to your name. We know that most of them have families that look up to them for financial support and so we pray that they will not feel overburdened by the cares of life. Lord we pray that their time here in China will be a growing experience for many that when they return to their respective countries, people will be amazed by the difference you have made in their lives here in Beijing. We pray that all the different parts of Africa will be represented in our gatherings, especially North Africa where Islam is very prevalent. Help us to be effective in reaching out to them in Jesus name. (The other letters of FEAST can be found at the back of this guide in the Additional Prayers section as these prayer focuses are applicable to all congregations and ministries of BICF. They are a great way to continue praying for the ministries of BICF even after this 30-day focus has concluded). Day 3, Sunday, March 8 21st Century Cantonese (CMC): The theme of CMC for 2015 is Succession of Life. This aims to encourage our members to see themselves as ambassadors sent by the Lord to Beijing. We pray that our church meeting will serve as a spiritual fuel station to set our hearts on fire. 2 Timothy 2:1-2: You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Prayer: Lord Jesus, the Word who has become flesh, let your humility and the sacrificial giving or yourself be an example to us so we will not be deceived by earthly pleasures. Just as you gave of yourself to seek and save the lost, we desire to bring Hong Kong people residing in Beijing to know and worship you. There are about 50,000 Hong Kong people currently living in Beijing. Our vision is to preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God to this group. How do we find them in this strange land and bring them to worship the Lord together with us? Pray for God s favor in this endeavor. Over 400 students from Hong Kong come to Beijing every year to pursue their undergraduate or postgraduate study. How can we share the gospel with them? Pray for God s favor. There are many young Hong Kong professionals working in Beijing and here for a temporarily stay. How can we make this church to become a spiritual fuel station to set their hearts on fire? We pray that our Lord can guide us and give us more power so this goal can - 2 Timothy 2: PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 07

6 be realized. We Hong Kong Christians also desire to be a blessing to the Mainland, particularly to the Uyghur people, a least reached people group. Pray for opportunities to minister to this group. Day 4, Monday, March 9 21st Century Filipino (Taglish) It s more fun in the Philippines! (At least, this is what you ve heard and see in the travel advertisements of CNN and other international television news networks!) The Filipino Congregation of the Beijing International Christian Fellowship (BICF) was started in a small group Bible Study way back in 1999 at the Sheraton Hotel. The group had increased in numbers and individuals grew in the knowledge and passion to reach out other Filipinos in Beijing. The group composed of Filipino expats with diverse religious background, workplace and dialect yet unified in serving and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ. Our regular service is every Sunday from 1:30PM 3:30PM at the BICF Chapel E, 2nd Floor of the 21st Century Hotel. The Filipino Congregation is a fun and loving fellowship for all people in all walks of life. We have great and anointed worship services every Sunday with Filipino flavor of fellowship and friendship. Colossian 3:23-24 : Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Prayer: Our loving God, we honor you and we praise you for bringing us here in this nation. We know that you brought us here with your divine plan and purpose. We thank you Oh God for using us in this end time harvest of souls here in Beijing and other parts of China. Please pray for the unchurched Filipinos in Beijing that they will come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray that God will raise up more leaders and ministers to reach out other Filipinos in the embassy, entertainment world, and in the marketplace. Please pray for OFW-Overseas Filipino Workers that God will protect them from physical, emotional, financial and spiritual attack of the enemies. Please pray for the families of the Filipino workers that God will provide their needs for their kid s education, comfort from loneliness and provision for their daily needs. - 1 Corinthians 15:58 1Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain - Colossian 3: PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 09

7 Day 5, Tuesday, March 10 21st Century Japanese: The Japanese Congregation firmly believes we are called to be ambassadors of reconciliation in this land. It has been 20 years since a group of Japanese speakers began gathering within BICF, 10 years since Japanese worship service began, and 70 years since the war ended. By the grace and mercy of the Lord, we want to reach out and serve not only Japanese people living in this city but also all the people residing here. We gather together for worship before the Japanese embassy (in Education Building #606, every Sunday 11am to 12:30pm), maintaining the consciousness of being ambassadors. There are many Japanese college students living in Beijing. So, pray that we will be able to provide meetings and worship services in Japanese on the west side of the town. We feel great need of starting a Japanese-Chinese bilingual service for those who have lived in Japan and/or those who have Japanese spouses. Pray that workers who share the same vision will be provided. Japanese Congregation has been praying for a people group in the Southwest part of China and this year we are planning to visit Yunnan province. Pray that doors of opportunities will be opened for us. 2 Corinthians 5:20: We are therefore Christ s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ s behalf: Be reconciled to God. - 2 Corinthians 5:20 Prayer: Dear God, we know that we live in this place not by chance but by your plan. You have called me to become Christ s ambassador by entrusting me with the gospel of reconciliation. Please grant us the power of the Holy Sprit so that we can complete this task. Help us so that we can boldly proclaim the gospel. This is the only Japanese congregation currently existing in Beijing. Please pray that our congregation will be able to truly repent of the atrocious sins committed in the past against Asian countries such as China and be able to fulfill the role of Christ s Ambassadors for Reconciliation. Please pray for about 30,000 Japanese people who reside in Beijing that God will touch their hearts and lead them to salvation in Christ. 10 PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 11

8 Day 6, wednesday, march 11 21st Century Mandarin (IMS) Every Sunday, 9:00 AM, our brothers and sisters from many different countries throughout the world come to attend IMS to praise and worship the LORD in Mandarin, as well as to hear His word. Our attendance has averaged to about 700 people every Sunday. Other than our Sunday services, we have more than 20 small groups and fellowships, a Sunday school program, mentorships, and a daily 3-minute Bible study videocast on WeChat.. Many brothers and sisters have committed themselves to God s family. They encourage, care and pray for each other to grow together in the spirit and to prepare themselves in their service for the Lord. We have had many touching testimonies. Many lives have changed by God s word, including ones with illnesses that have been supported with visits, and family and individuals that have been counseled. Brothers and sisters received spiritually growth in IMS and they also helped building up the Church. IMS will continue to grow in the coming 5 years and we still have areas in need of development. In order to cooperate with all ministries for the future, we have made plans for the next 3 years: 2015-making disciples, 2016-fulfilling duties, 2017-establishing the body of Christ. Prayer: Our father in Heaven, the LORD Jesus Christ, we thank you and praise you. You are our kind and merciful God. You are the Emmanuel. We trust and follow you and commit ourselves to your spiritual family. We want to encourage, care and pray for each other and to grow together spiritually through many ministries. We want to follow you with humility, gentleness and patience so we can love one another and keep an undivided heart. Help us to prepare ourselves, fulfill our purpose and build up the body of Christ. Amen. Ephesians 4:2-3: Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 9 Day 7, Thursday, March 12 Embassy. I ask all these things in JESUS NAME! 21st Century Young Adult (The Embassy) We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood and a holy nation God s very own possession. Founded in March 2007, The Embassy is the Young Adults Ministry of BICF 21st Century. We live as one nation of chosen people, in community and unified in Spirit for the encouragement and strengthening of the body in order to transform Beijing. We are united by the desire to learn and experience more of who God is, what it means for us to be His ambassadors, and what responsibilities that leaves us in our walk, in our community, in other ministries, and in the nations throughout the world. We gather to taste and see that the Lord is good. The Embassy meets on Thursday nights, 7pm, at the BICF 21st Century office space. Day 8, Friday, March 13 21st Century, 11:00am English service (Celebration) It is amazing, it seems the whole world literally shows up at the 11:00 am service. When I say the whole world, I mean you might see someone from just about any country on the globe, and these globe-trotting citizens come with all kinds of needs. I remember one Sunday following the service a young woman wanted prayer for safety during her abortion scheduled the following week. Through prayer and counseling, eight months later, she had a beautiful baby. Things change when people come to church! I like to call the 11:00 am service the seeker service. We estimate 25-30% of those that come do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus. This service provides a wonderful doorway for those that are exploring their faith and for those that are mature in their faith as well. Psalm 34:8: Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed are those who take refuge in him. Asking God for: Father I thank you that you meet us where we are at. Thank you that you speak my language and know my inner most being. I thank you for your Son, who reconciles us and restores us into a right standing and relationship with you. Because of Jesus, we can approach You. I thank you for your Spirit, who comforts, teaches and guides us daily in extending your Kingdom wherever we are and wherever we go. Continue to help us seek first your Face and your Kingdom with all our heart and mind. Consume us with your Spirit all the days of our lives that we might always long to fellowship with You and invite others into that same fellowship. Transform us into the image of your Son, Jesus Christ. Finally, I ask you to bless, lead, and guide the ministry and leadership of The Jeremiah 29:11-14: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord. - Psalm 34:8 Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you for the privilege of an open place to worship in Beijing. Forgive us for not using this opportunity more to expose our friends and colleagues to the wonderful good news - Jeremiah 29: PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 13

10 of your love for us. We lift up to you the 21st Church 11:00 AM English service. We know that many that attend this service for the first time are far from you. We pray as they enter the lobby space and then go into the main hall, that something in their spirit will cry out, This is what I need, this is what I have been waiting for! As the worship team begins to lead, come upon them with the presence of your Holy Spirit. As the Word of God is preached, speak deeply into their lives. As they see others being prayed for, may they too hunger for a personal touch from God. May this service be known as a place where men and women encounter God and are never the same again. We ask these things for your glory and your honor, in Jesus mighty name. Amen. Day 9, Saturday, March 14 21st Century, 4pm English (Refuge) Refuge aims to be a place where people are trained and activated in the ministry of the Spirit. We are hungry for more of God and our prayer is that we would see God move powerfully in our city. The Refuge congregation is an informal and relaxed context where we aim to be able to worship God freely. Because we meet at 4pm on Sunday afternoons, people from different contexts and churches come to Refuge. We meet at the 21st Century BICF offices in Chapel A and B. We love freedom in worship, teaching the word of God, and the work of the Holy Spirit. We are trying to build a context where people can function in the gifts of the spirit, hear from God and receive prayer for healing and generally get refreshed from encountering God. Acts 2:16-18 : But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. Prayer: Father I pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Beijing. I pray that we would see your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I ask that those at Refuge would have revelation and understanding of all that Jesus has done for us, the depth of the Fathers love, and the presence of Holy Spirit in our lives. 11 Day 10, Sunday, March 15 Enable them, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to have deep impact in their own spheres of influence that you ve called them to. 21st Century, 9am English (Sonrise) We ask this in your powerful name, Amen. I feel like the speaker was talking directly to me, is a comment we ve heard several times during our 9am English service (also known as Sonrise). It s a reminder that people come to our services Day 11, Monday, March 16 needing to hear a word from the Lord. They re living in a foreign culture and making adjustments in so many areas of their life. So many feel their lives have been turned upside-down. When Sunday arrives, they make their way to BICF to connect with friends, receive prayer, hear from the Word, and most importantly meet with Jesus. They re hungry for his presence, and its our joy in the Sonrise Service to provide an environment to see that happen. We meet in the lower auditorium of the 21st Century Hotel Conference Center every Sunday at 9am. Beijing Business Crossings (BBx) We are about transforming lives and equipping professionals by building integrity in the honorable world of business in line with God s commandments. We do this through monthly talks by C suite executives founders and entrepreneurs in both private and public sectors in old and new industries in China. We connect and inspire via a community of likeminded people in the marketplace in integrated business - hiring, career opportunities and opening doors leading to relationships. We also create networking and fellowship Hosea 6:3: Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to opportunities by regularly holding social events. acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. Colossians 3:22-23: Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever Prayer: Father, thank you for the people you send to the Sunday Morning 9am worship service at BICF. It s not easy to make it you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. - Hosea 6:3 across the city to the 21st Century at that time of day, but they make that sacrifice because they desire more of you. They re eager to meet with others of like-desire and be mutually encouraged. Jesus, we humbly invite you to come and meet with them. Inspire your people to deeper walks of faith. Comfort them. Encourage them. Help them to more fully know how deep, and high, and wide your love for them is. Allow the Word of God take deep root in their life. Matthew 5:14, 16: You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Prayer: It is our prayer that... In the next 12 months, we will attract new members from both - Colossians 3: Matthew 5:14, PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 17

12 English-speaking and Chinese-speaking professional communities, from both inside and outside church groups. We will gain favor among seasoned and China-focused business leaders that are willing to speak on topics with a China flavor backed up by strong personal testimonies. And we will grow emerging professionals by allowing them to develop work projects, talk ideas, volunteer systems and more, using BBx event platforms and online networks. Day 12, Tuesday, March 17 BICF Global BICF Global was founded in late As a non-profit ministry, BICF Global seeks to connect global citizens to the global church by bringing together a community of friends to carryout Christ s commands. BICF Global does this by helping to build the global church in cities where BICF has influence. Through BICF s church expansion and new start plans, we hope to make church a more common experience for tens of thousands of people in Beijing and beyond. BICF Global also seeks to facilitate global connections through the hosting of events like the annual China International Fellowship Conference; Beijing s Global Leadership Summit and other training events that call out leaders and make disciples. BICF Global also wishes to establish a global community through informational dinners and the founding of regional hubs around the world that will better facilitate connections between BICF Alumni and Friends who share our vision. 13 Matthew 9:37-38 Then Jesus said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Prayer: Ask God to clearly connect those who have a heart for China with the strategic work of BICF. Pray God leads the BICF Global Team to effectively partner with BICF Alumni and Friends who have a strong affinity for and the ability to influence the things of God in China. May God s blessing of provision and resource be aligned to maximize Kingdom synergies through the work of BICF Global. Day 13, Wednesday, March 18 Central Business District (CBD) Jesus Christ is sovereign over every millimeter of space and every second of time; hence Jesus is not only Lord in our hearts, but also Lord over the market place, every sector of our lives and the entire cosmos. BICF CBD strongly believes that church is not a place we go to, but we ARE the church. We are not consumers in a Sunday service but disciples of Jesus Christ, hence active participants in the work of God to redeem His people and the world. Erasing both the clergy/laity and sacred/secular divide, we don t see the church as an institution but we are a Spirit-filled community of God declaring Jesus is Lord. BICF CBD currently has two gatherings, Sunday mornings (English) and Sunday evening (bilingual). Acts 2:44-47: All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. - Matthew 9:37-38 Prayer: Father, thank you for your ultimate act of love by giving us your Son as a sacrifice, making our fellowship with you possible. In Christ, we are a new creation! So fill us with your Spirit that we may reflect your sovereign love to creation and reflect creation s praises back to you as your royal priesthood. May we be agents of your redemption, ambassadors of your love, and signposts of things to come. May we hold onto the yearnings and pains of the world on - Acts 2: PRAYER guide PRAYER guide 21

14 one hand and your love on the other, so that in and through your church, your love is made known. Day 14, Thursday, March 19 Counseling Ministry BICF Counseling Ministry is a Christian Counseling Service provide by a team of trained lay counselors, pastoral and professional counselors at BICF. Our vision is to serve the BICF community by offering a safe and supportive counseling service to individuals, couples and families for a range of life, emotional and spiritual issues. We are dedicated to providing a well established care service that builds, equips and embraces people of all nations to find their created potential. Father, please bring more volunteers into this ministry especially those with counseling background and with a heart to care for others. Please strengthen those who are already in the ministry that they will not grow weary in serving but renew them with more zeal and passion. Please help those in leadership position to see the need to grow the ministry and give them direction on how to do it. Father, remember those who are in pain and are hurt. Heal them with your love and grace. Set them free from bondage and deliver them from the evil one. Help them to forgive those who have hurt them and remove bitterness in their hearts. In Jesus powerful name, Amen. Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20 Prayer: Dear God, Thanks you for your love. 15 Day 15, Friday, March 20 Equipping Center Since 2008 the BICF Seminary extension has offered quality classes with the highest accreditation for Evangelical seminaries in Asia. Classes are offered in audit, or BA, MA, and Dmin degree levels. Degrees are in ministry or intercultural studies. Classes are offered in Chinese, English, or bilingual formats. Over 125 classes have been offered since opening. Eleven students have graduated as of The average class has students from over 7 different countries. The multi-cultural student body, and cross-cultural environment of Beijing allows for a more equal balance of lectures, hands-on ministry, and coaching that lead to greater student effectiveness. Students are trained according to head (lectures and small groups), heart (coaching), and hands (ministry experiences). The extension and modular format allows students to work and still attend classes. Approximately 25 classes are offered a year. We ask that you would anoint and protect our seminary extension director, administrator, seminary board members, professors, and their family members. Help them to minister clearly, effectively in a way that God s kingdom is enlarged. Help our teachers to coach and mentor students for greater effectiveness. We ask that our students be anointed with the Holy Spirit to witness, teach, disciple, and minister with power from on high. We ask that they would be used to do things beyond anything they could ask or imagine. 16 Day 16, Saturday, March 21 Families and Children Significant research has revealed that children are the most receptive to spiritual and developmental input between the ages Each week several hundred children in this 4-14 age-window worship at BICF with their families. They gather with each other to worship, learn, and grow in Christ. These children are literally the next generation of our Church! The BICF Family Ministries seeks to equip, inspire, and support these parents in nurturing a vibrant faith in their children. At the same time, we hope to help our entire church family realize each person s role in developing the next next generation. Spirit to empower the singles of our church to be big brothers and sisters that the kids of our church can look up to. May the older men and women of our church mentor the younger. May they also become the local spiritual grandparents of our kids whose biological grandparents are likely thousands of miles away. I pray for all of us living life here in Beijing that as Brothers and Sisters, we would sharpen one another and that BICF would be a family your family! 17 Day 17, Sunday, March 22 Glory Power Media Glory Power Media was founded in 2011 as a non-profit ministry of the BICF. Our vision is to resource the Chinese Church with high quality contextually relevant Christian digital and print materials. Working through strategic partnerships, we enjoy relationship with multiple Christian authors, churches, and organizations in the sourcing and creation of materials we believe will bless China. We produce contents that are Jesus-centered. These include Chinese devotional materials, pastoral resources, Bible study guides, tools for church ministries, etc. Our desire is to develop practical tools and spiritual resources for pastors and lay leaders who carry out churchbased ministries among Mandarin speaking populations of the world. During the first quarter of 2015, Glory Power will bring online, in both Android and Apple IOS platforms, a digital APP which we believe is the first APP exclusively focused on equipping the Church in China. This APP will allow for the rapid dissemination of resources and training tools for the benefit of China. 21 Day 22, Friday, March 27 Russian Fellowship The Russian fellowship started when God placed a burden in people s hearts of BICF to pray for the Russian speaking community in Beijing. In the fall of 2005, three of us came to Beijing with a purpose to reach out to the Russians with the Gospel. This seemed too ambitious and unreal for 3 young Christians from Uzbekistan! Our Korean pastor challenged us to leave our homes and come to Beijing to plant a church. When we came to Beijing, we heard of BICF and started to attend the English services. As BICF began supporting us with their prayers and as we heard supporting prayers from different people in BICF and Beijing, our vision grew and we saw a real need to start this fellowship inside of BICF. People started to call and come to our service some Russian speaking and some foreigners who were interested to practice or learn the Russian language. We were surprised to meet them from UK, Mongolia, Canada, USA, Nigeria, Singapore, China, South Korea, and Japan. We were inspired to serve them and help them in any way we could just to glorify God through our friendships and ministry! Our students attracted more students so we became more like a student outreach ministry and it was going well with various events and outreach methods. One of the most important was a home group where we invited students for home-made dinner and talked about different things in their lives. As we became good friends we shared our faith with them. After some time some students were leaving us and we felt sad saying goodbye to them and seeing that our group was not growing but shrinking every year! But then we realized that our ministry was for building the kingdom of God finding, growing and sending workers back home or to other places with the Lord s call in their hearts. So every semester we started with new students arriving and some students leaving. God would bring different brothers and sisters to us and also some non-believers who accepted the Lord here to share Him with other people later. In 2011 we moved to ZGC BICF for one year and then to Wangjing area where we rented a café to cook some Russian food and use it as our base for the Alpha course and other events. The café didn t last long, however, but we still use it for our Sunday services and some gatherings. Currently we have more stable young adults with more stable plans in Beijing and some young students. We have Sunday school with 5 kids, and two home groups where we invite new folks. God has brought some great leaders and servants to our group so we are very optimistic in sowing the seeds of the Gospel and gathering the harvest. We use every opportunity for sharing God s grace and our faith, so praise the Lord for that! As we all speak Russian we have had people from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and other foreign countries. Matthew 6:33: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Prayer: We pray for the minority people in northeast and the Nanai in Russia. We seek for the needy people to help so we share the Gospel with them. We accept and help various teams here or Christians who come to serve here or just passing by. 22 Day 23, Saturday, March 28 their work place, in their home and in their community. We ask all these in the precious name of Jesus. Amen. Small Groups BIG churches are great places. They can offer excellent preaching, teaching, wonderful music, and a wide variety of programs. But it s also so easy to feel lost in a big church. When you are new to Beijing, living in a foreign culture plus making adjustments in so many areas of your life can be daunting. At BICF, joining a small group makes a BIG difference. You will meet new friends and find like-minded people to further your faith in a supportive environment. This group will become your family, your friends, your prayer partners with whom you share life; it s your home away from home! BICF small groups are exciting, international and intercultural! We currently have different types of groups meeting throughout the city, on various nights of the week, in multiple languages. Matthew 6:33: Let us be concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do good. Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. 23 - John 4:23 Day 24, Sunday, March 29 Worship Ministry Few ministries of the church are as cherished and contended as the worship ministry. Many people have strong opinions regarding the style of worship, but in John 4:23, Jesus shares some insightful words. He says the hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. Each week, as the various congregations of BICF gather throughout the city, there are teams of people who help to lead those congregations in a time of worship through music. Some of these teams are big; some are small. Some are led by staff; others are volunteer led. Some involve full bands and choirs, while others simply use pre-recorded songs. Whatever the style may be, each team strives to worship God in spirit and truth with integrity, ability, and unity, and to lead others into His presence. Today please pray for these worship leaders and the congregations that they lead that across BICF we would enter a new season of true and authentic worship. John 4:23: The hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer. Prayer: Father in heaven, I thank You for the gift of music through which Your people can express praise and worship to You. I also thank You for calling and anointing men and women to lead Your people into meaningful times of corporate worship. I ask that You would give them grace to lead with integrity, ability and unity. I also ask that as they lead, Your people would be drawn into Your presence and would worship You in spirit and in truth. That is what you are seeking and that is what we long to do. I ask this in Jesus name, amen. Day 25 Monday, March 30 Youth The BICF Youth Ministry (21st Century) gathers together on Sundays at 9am and 11am on the 2nd Floor of the 21st Century Hotel. The 9am service focuses more on teaching while the 11am service focuses more on discussion and small groups. Both services have their own Youth-led Worship bands. All youth are welcome to join us. There are also other expressions of youth ministry taking place throughout the city, please remember each of them in prayer today. At BICF we would like to journey with our Youth by focusing on a few key pillars that unite us together in Christ. 1. We would like to see Youth experience a sense of Family and belonging. We would like to create a space where youth can relate to each other and experience family. This means participating in Sunday morning Experiences, Main service Family Sundays and also smaller group settings such as P&W worship bands, performing arts productions, outreaches, small groups, sports ministry and many more. 2. We trust God for timely Teaching, Learning and Coaching where youth get taught about the Truth that the Gospel presents. 24 to create a space whereby youth can grow and mature in Christ. 3. We would like to be known as a group of young Christians that would like to push our boundaries much further than the four walls in which we Praise and Worship on Sunday mornings. We would like to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a broken city out there. This is where we pull together all our skills, gifts and abilities that God has blessed us with and to serve in His Kingdom by giving to others. 4. We pray that God would show us our true identity in Him, the living Christ. We would like for Youth to create solid Identities in Christ (1 Peter 2:9-10) and that they will have no doubt who they are in this world. 1 Peter 2:9-10: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Day 26, Tuesday, March 31 ZGC African (ACM) ACM (Africa Connect Ministry) is a ministry under BICF ZGC composed mainly of Africans. Our aim is to see Africans building relationships with God and one another and living a life of purpose and responsibility in Christ. Our vision is to raise a vibrant body of worshippers from Africa and all over the world who will be used as agents of divine transformation and revival, ushering people into a relationship with Christ. We do campus outreach, prayer, small groups and music. We meet during the academic semester on every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 4 6pm at Xijiao Hotel. We pray that God will continue to add to our numbers for the harvest is plenty. We pray that God will strengthen and empower us to effectively reach out to our fellow Africans in Beijing. May God uphold every believer in faith and give them great endurance and patience so that they may live fulfilled lives in Christ. Day 27, Wednesday, April 1 ZGC English God has given BICF ZGC a perfect opportunity to walk our talk placing us next to the campus with the most foreign students in China, and near thousands more. We were planted by BICF in 2004 to reach International students in Haidian. Today Beijing is the world s largest university student city with a million Chinese and one hundred thousand internationals. What an amazing opportunity we have to reach them with the truth and grace of Jesus Christ! Our motto is gathering, growing, and going. Gathering very few of the thousands of International students who come to Beijing know BICF exists! Pray for us as we let them know - handing out invitation cards, putting up notices, and by bringing friends to meetings. Sundays we re in Xijiao Hotel in Wudaokou. During the week we can gather in Café Heaven, dorm rooms, apartments, restaurants, parks our Father owns this whole city! Growing Jesus invites us into a life-transforming journey with Him. He s given His Word, Spirit, and family for our growth together. In this way He is making us true living letters for our lost world. Pray we will be ready for opposition and suffering. The message of the Cross challenges this world. Rejoice as we see glimpses of the new world born in Christ s resurrection. Going Jesus commands us to make disciples. Pray for us as we follow Him and call others to follow, too in every country, into every corner of this city. He holds all authority in heaven and earth. Day 28, Thursday, April 2 ZGC Indonesian The ZGC Indonesian Congregation is a youth to young adult community congregation. 90% of our congregation s attendants are college students. 1 Timothy 4:12: Don t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity Prayer: These are young people who need guidance and discipleship in their walk with God. We need a church leader and Pastor who is strong in the faith, a godly family leader, and has a burden for the Indonesian Students in Beijing. As a student community Church, the Indonesian Congregation doesn t have a sending church in its country of origin, thus all of these years we have been without any financial and organizational support (from our home country). There is currently a proposal to meet with an Indonesia-based church to discuss these things. Please pray for the right Church that shares the same burden with the BICF Indonesian Congregation and is willing to extend support in all needed areas. There are currently more than three thousand Indonesian Students studying in universities in Beijing. Rough estimation puts only about 300+ that attend Church. And by the report of Indonesian Embassy, the trend of Indonesian Students who are involved in criminal cases is increasing in number. Please pray for the vision of 20 Indonesian small groups and 40 leaders to build God s work on the foundation of Christ Jesus to reach out and disciple their fellow students in each of universities they are in. Day 29, Friday, April 3 ZGC Korean & 21st Century French Today we invite you to pray for two more of our congregations: the Korean Congregation that meets at our ZGC campus, and the French Congregation that meets at our 21st Century Campus. Our Sunday morning worship began on September 28th, The ZGC Mandarin congregation focuses on serving Chinese returning to Beijing. Our vision can be summed up in three words: Gathering: getting together Growing: being equipped Going: being sent out to serve Matthew 7:24: Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. Prayer: pray for wisdom in how to teach and preach his Word clearly pray for His energy to love brothers and sisters in the church pray for wisdom in how to feed both the young and mature Christian, so that we can walk in him and be rooted and built up in him pray for wisdom as we reach out to the returnees in Beijing Easter, Sunday, April 5 Vision 100 We believe the Lord would have us trust him in the planting of 100 new churches in the next 10 years. A year ago, as the elders were discussing the way forward for BICF, we sensed the Lord speaking to us about multiplication. Many among us may already be sensing a call to develop their teaching or preaching gift. We believe we are going to see new leaders raised up that will take on the role of leading new churches across our city. These church gatherings may be in a home, an office block, a restaurant, or any number of locations, not limited to leaders with Bible school degrees, but rather more likely a multiplication through the mobilization of men and women in the market place. Would you join with us in prayer, that God would even now begin to raise up new church leaders and give us direction on which part of our city we should be targeting? 1 Thessalonians 5:2: Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. Prayer: Lord Jesus we know that you died that all men and women might have an opportunity to come to know you. Many parts of our city are without a Christian witness. We desire to see your Kingdom come near to every corner of Beijing. We ask you for every district of Beijing, every neighborhood, that you would raise up places of worship. We don t need big buildings or seminary graduates, we just need men and women who will hear you calling and trust you to use them. Lord, begin to stir in the hearts of many a desire to teach and preach. May your Word be a fire in them burning to be released that the world might know how much you love. 29 as they seek to identify new leaders. Give us divine priorities as to where in our city we should go. We ask these things in Jesus name. ADDITIONAL PRAYERS Family It s interesting to know that the King of Kings, Jesus, doesn t just consider us His subjects, but rather He calls us His own family. He looks at us and sees His brothers and sisters and that s exactly how we choose to look at each other in our church. One of the greatest needs that the International community across BICF has is the need for family. Some are here for studies, work, business, diplomatic assignments, etc. and they are thousands of miles away from the rest of their biological families. And so it is common for them to feel overwhelmed not having family around to celebrate together the joyful moments and to stand together with during the tough moments. Therefore, with God s help we seek to provide a home for them in which they will experience genuine family love and care. Mathew 12:49-50: Pointing to his disciples, he said, Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother. Prayer: Dear loving Father, we thank you for the wonderful families that you have blessed us with. Thank you for the smiles they bring, the joy and comfort they provide us with. Lord we pray even for those family members that are thousands of miles away from us, that you watch over them for us, Lord. We cover our families with the precious blood of Jesus so that the enemy will not have any hold on them. We also pray for the restoration and healing of any unhealthy relationships that may exist. We pray for selfless love in our families and especially our family of believers that you have given us here in Beijing. 30 Evangelism Service We thank God so much for all the people that have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ here in Beijing as we have been stepping out in faith and sharing the love of God in the power of the Holy Spirit. But we yearn to see more effective evangelism taking place because we believe the harvest is ripe and plenty too. BICF has a great vision of planting 100 churches in the next 10 years and that can only happen as we allow the Holy Spirit to help us in our Jesus modeled servanthood for us and we desire to follow in His footsteps. We believe that every believer is gifted and is capable of being a great blessing to others in one way or the other to the glory of our heavenly Father. Volunteers that serve tirelessly in different capacities are the engine that propels the work of the church forward. 31 Teaching We need our minds and our hearts to be opened in order for us to understand the Scriptures and It is our desire to see the Word of God growing and prevailing in our lives and in this city. For that to happen, we need revelation that comes directly from God. We desire to receive sound and dynamic teaching of the Word of God that will bring inevitable transformation in our lives. We need the Rhema Word that will provide answers to the questions people may bring in our gatherings. Luke 24:45: Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. Acts 19:20: So the word of the Lord grew and prevailed mightily. - Luke 24:45- - Acts 19:20 Prayer: Great and awesome Father, we thank you for revealing yourself to us through your Word. We pray that the teaching of your Word will bring faith in our hearts, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
