Methods Propanediols in samples were extracted with anhydrous alcohol concentrated by rotary evaporator and analyzed by gas chromatography. Results The method showed a good linearity over the range of 3.03~505.00 mg/l for 1,2 propanediol and 3.06~510.00 mg/l for 1,3 propanediol, with correlation coefficients of 0.9999 and 1 respectively. The limits of detection for 1,2 propanediol and 1,3 propanediol were 0.95 mg/kg and 0.96 mg/kg (S/N=3), respectively. The recoveries were 93.7%~107.8% at the spiked level of 60, 30, 3 mg/kg with the RSD between 0.97% and 2.26% (n=9). Conclusion This method is sensitive, reliable, and simple, which has been applied for the determination of 1,2 propanediol and 1,3 propanediol in salad with satisfactory results.
