N.W.J.E Silk Road Economic Belt and Central Asian Geopolitics Pan Zhiping Abstract:Situated in the heartland of the Eurasian continent, Central Asia is a hub which the Silk Road Economic Belt SREB cannot bypass when the Belt runs westward. Central Asia is also located at a geopolitical crossroad where major powers such as USA, Russia, EU and China are playing four-way games among three nations, having important effects on the progress and prospect of the SERB. China should realize that firstly it is critical to know how to conduct practical and in-depth cooperation with Russia in Central Asia and secondly to know how to make Central Asian people feel close at heart with Chinese people; thirdly China should also understand that security situation constitutes a real and present obstacle to the SERB due to the fact that Islamic extremist forces have risen in recent three decades and extremist groups are becoming more and more extreme. Since the beginning of the new century, Mr. Zheng Hangsheng has made a historic contribution to the development of sociology in China. He not only devoted to strengthening sociology as a discipline but also concerned about its growth at Minzu universities. We, as the member of northwest u- niversity for nationalities, cannot forget Mr. Zheng Hangsheng's help and support in our establishment of sociology.
