7 The Multi-forms of Chinese Shanshu Ideas in East Asia A Perspective from Regional History WU Zhen School of PhilosophyFudan UniversityShanghai 00China Abstract The Confucianism in East Asia has been prevailing in the st Century. This paper raises some issues about the significance and problems of the regional history research method thriving in the late 0th Century. It points out it is necessary to examine Chinese thoughts in the light of East Asia region. It is found that Chinese thoughts has a multi-form in East Asia and the Confucianism in this region involves multi-cultural features. It concludes that to research the history of Chinese Confucianism in East Asia could help us to avoid the China-centrism which the past research tended to sink in.
