1 * Abstract Scholars who use labour process theory to analyse Chinese new working class tend to focus their attention on workers in the factory ignoring the invisible exploited working population who have no worker identity but are nonetheless toiling away in the capitalist production system. The group of daigengnong which this essay describes reveals another form of production in the world factory i.e. a self labor regime. By introducing the concept of limen from anthropology this paper tries to show the basic features of this miniature regime and the hegemony attached to it.
