A initial study of quack in Beijing and Tianjin area in the end of the Qing Lu Caixia (Department of History, Nankai University, Tianjin 300071) Abstract: Under the impact of western medicine,the publicization of medium,and the self-reproach of Chinese medicine doctors, the seriousness of quacks problem in Beijing and Tianjin area in the end of the Qing is exaggerated. The contemporaries understanding of quacks phenomenon changed from
criticizing the individual, to all of Chinese medicine doctors.the distrust of the Chinese medicine doctors evolved in to querying Chinese medicine science.in order to alleviate the quacks problem, the local governments and society of beijing and tianjin areas took a series of measures,such as adopting the qualifications examination of doctors,organizing medical science research groups and establishing the medical science schools and so on.the quacks phenomenon in the end of the Qing and the corresponding measures refracted the track of the modern society s vicissitude of the society and the culture.
