ABSTRACTS Some Thoughts on Developing Maritime Cooperative Partnership and Promoting the Building of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Liu Cigui China aims to expand common interests with the countries along the Maritime Silk Road to build a community of interests and a community of common destiny with relevant countries and create political trust economic integration cultural tolerance and connectivity and for the common development and prosperity of the region. The building of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road relies on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ASEAN and its member states radiates to the surrounding South Asian region and extends to the Middle East East Africa and Europe. It focuses on economic cooperation utilizes existing cooperative mechanisms and platforms and is jointly promoted by China and the countries along the Maritime Silk Road. Developing maritime cooperative partnership is the essence of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Key features are the building of maritime connectivity strengthening the cooperation of marine economies and industries promoting comprehensive cooperation across the ocean and expanding exchanges and cooperation in marine culture. The Collective Rise of Asia and Its Effects Gao Zugui The collective rise of Asia is one of the most prominent developments in the world today. This is the joint result of many factors that will in turn bring about more complex and multidimensional changes. Current trends not only continue to strengthen internal linkage and integration of the region accelerating policy adjustment and the restructuring of relations between major powers but also invite external powers to increase their strategic input in the region in turn creating a global centre of power and strategic interaction in Asia.
