C Maggie Kwok hosts farewell reception hief Superintendent Maggie Kwok spent her last day in office on December 23, 2002 before proceeding on pre-retirement leave after serving the Department for 34 years. She hosted a farewell cocktail reception that evening attended by more than 200 colleagues. During the reception, Commissioner Raymond Wong delivered a speech to acknowledge Mrs Kwok's remarkable contributions to the Department. In his speech Mr Wong said Mrs Kwok had created a series of "first" in the Customs. She was the first female training instructor, the first female Marine and Land Enforcement Commander, the first female Chief Superintendent, and was the most senior female officer in the Department since the 1980s. The reception ended with a touching presentation of souvenirs to Mrs Kwok. The souvenirs include a group photo of the Airport Command (APC) and a live small tree with a plaque to symbolise that Mrs Kwok's memories of the APC will continue to grow and never fade. M Farewell dinner for John Lam ore than 100 officers and guests attended a farewell dinner for Principal Trade Controls Officer John Lam on January 17, 2003. Apart from colleagus from the Department and guests from the Trade and Industry Department, retired officers and overseas Customs attachés also attended the dinner to bid farewell to Mr Lam. In his 43 years of service with the Government, Mr Lam had served the Department for 37 years. During the banquet, Mr Lam expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for their support. He also shared his valuable experience with the participants. We wish Mr Lam a happy retirement life. M Farewell reception for Calvin Leung ore than 350 officers and guests attended a cocktail reception at the Senior Officers Mess on November 29, 2002 to bid farewell to Senior Superintendent Calvin Leung. The guests included senior officers of various Government departments, local dignitaries, heads and deputy heads of the disciplined services, foreign Consuls and Customs attachés. The cocktail reception was concluded by a humorous speech of Mr Leung. A farewell dinner for Mr Leung was also held at a restaurant in Sheung Wan. Having served the Department for over 34 years, he expressed at the banquet that it was his great honour to work with excellent colleagues. He also encouraged all colleagues to face challenges positively. Commissioner Raymond Wong thanked for his contributions to the Department.
