1 DOI: /j.issn (2014) ,2 1,2 1, THE SPATIAL DATABASE AND MAPPING EXPRESSION OF INTANGIBLE CULTURE: A CASE STUDY OF YUXIAN PAPERCUTS LI Ren-jie 1,2, FU Xue-qing 1,2, ZHANG Jun-hai 1,2 (1.College of Resources and Environment Science, Hebei Normal University, Shijiazhuang , China; 2.Hebei Key Laboratory of Environmental Change and Ecological Construction, Shijiazhuang , China) Abstract: Every since the research of intangible Cultural Geography have begun to use some tools like GIS to do quantitative research and visual expression, it is still lack of a research mode based on a systematic designing. This paper provides a logic research mode for intangible Cultural Geography as "cultural landscape cultural carriers geodatabase carrier combination cultural landscape", which is used for spatial database designing and cultural map visualization. It establishes a foundation for conducting the systematic cultural geography research. Taking the culture of Yuxian papercuts as an case, it builds a spatial database of papercuts culture, including the dataset of basic geographical information, dataset of cultural carriers and the dataset of other subjects. Among them, the dataset of cultural carrier involved 10 kinds of cultural carrier features such as papercuts artists, production workshops (factory), cultural audiences, online shops, etc. The dataset of other subjects consists of several features like memorabilia of papercuts, folktale and culture semantic meaning, etc. With the help of GIS analysis and visualization tools, making use of the link realizing between the spatial attribute fields of cultural carriers and the basic geographical features, the spatialization of carriers can be achieved. Based on the combination of various cultural carriers by using cultural landscape semantic meaning, it rebuilds the cultural landscape semantic meaning and forms some expression achievements of map visualization such as the distribution space of papercuts artists, the behavior space of artist, the space of arts style, the inheritance space of arts, and the space of commodity production and marketing, etc. Key words intangible culture; cultural carrier; spatial database; map visualization expression; Yuxian papercuts 10 K901 A lrjgis@163.com zhangresc@163.com
