Lau Hui Ming Liturgist: Clement Sim Date: 31 st December 2017 Time: 10:30pm [COMING INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD] (Spend time in silent meditation and prayer upon entering the Sanctuary) INTRODUCTION The final night of the year finds many Christians reflecting on the events of the past and looking ahead to the future. This is a night devoted to a new covenant with our Lord, to a new commitment to witness and service. The focus should be light and hopeful, not dwelling on the past, but acknowledging it and looking to the future with renewed hope and enthusiasm. The emotional tempo of the service should be relatively quiet and reflective in the beginning moving toward confident energy at the end. CALL TO WORSHIP L: Welcome to this time of quiet expectation. P: We have come here from extremely busy times. L: Come and find rest. Come and find hope. P: This is the last night of this year; we do not know what is to come. L: Do not fear. Look with eager joy for the presence of the Lord in your life. P: Open our eyes, ears, and hearts, O Lord, to receive your message of hope for us. OPENING HYMN: Great is Thy Faithfulness 1
OPENING PRAYER: Lord of the opening way, we bring to you this night our past, with all that has happened in our lives, our hopes and our dreams, our successes and our failures, our gains and our losses. We bring to you our present, lives filled with exhaustion, wonder, fear, concern. We come to you with hearts open to receive your word for us, for the future. We want to be part of your new heaven and earth, to serve you by serving others. Speak to us, heal us, teach us, lead us, for we ask these things in Jesus' Name. AMEN. P: Now we turn to the year that lies before us, and ask for your divine leadership in everything we do. L: Grant that this may be a year of spiritual advancement for all of us. P: And not for us only, but for the world in which we live. L: Help us to walk in humility of spirit and to seek your guidance at every step of the way. P: Teach us to pray and to listen, and to wait upon your Spirit. L: Let every day become a time for enjoying our relationship to you. P: Let every moment be a moment of communion, even though we may be unaware of it at the time. L: Bless the days that lie before us, that we may experience a deeper sense of your presence. Offering Hymn: Peace Like A River Doxology LITANY OF COVENANT RENEWAL: The Covenant Rev. Wong Hie Ing In the first covenant, God chose Israel to be a special people and to obey the Law. Our Lord Jesus Christ, by his death and resurrection, has made a new covenant with all who trust in him. We stand within this covenant and we bear Christ s name. On the one side, God promises to give us new life in Christ. On the other side, we are pledged to live, not for ourselves but for God. Today, therefore, we meet to renew this covenant that binds us to God. The people sit, and the minister says: Beloved in Christ, let us again claim for ourselves this Covenant which God has made with his people, and take the yoke of Christ upon us. To take his yoke upon us means that we are content that he appoints us our place and work, and that he himself be our reward. Christ has many services to be done; some are easy, others are difficult; some bring honor, others bring reproach; some suitable to our natural inclinations and material interests, others are contrary to both. In some we may please Christ and please ourselves, in others we cannot please Christ except by denying ourselves. Yet the power to do all these things is given to us in Christ, who strengthens us. Therefore let us make this Covenant of God our own. Let us give ourselves anew to him, trusting in his promises and relying on his grace. 3
The people stand, and the minister shall say: Lord God, Holy Father, since you have called us through Christ to share in this gracious Covenant, we take upon ourselves with joy the yoke of obedience, and for love of you, engage ourselves to seek and do your perfect will. We are no longer our own, but yours. Unison: I give myself completely to you, God. Assign me to my place in your creation. Let me suffer for you. Give me the work you would have me do. Give me many tasks or have me step aside while you call others. Put me forward or humble me. Give me riches or let me live in poverty. I freely give all that I am and all that I have to you. Lau Hui Ming Tarikh: 31 Disember 2017 Liturgi :Clement Sim Masa: 10:30 mlm DATANG KE HADIRAT TUHAN ( Jemaah diminta berdiam dan berdoa semasa dalam ruang ibadah ) PENGENALAN Pada malam terakhir setiap tahun, ramai orang-orang Kristian didapati mengenang kembali kepada peristiwa-peristiwa lampau dan memandang depan ke masa yang akan datang. Malam ini ialah malam yang bertumpu kepada suatu perjanjian baru dengan Tuhan kita, kepada suatu persetujuan untuk kesaksian dan pelayanan. Fokusnya haruslah dengan senang dan dengan harapan, bukan bergelutan dalam masa lalu tetapi menerimanya dan memandang ke masa depan dengan perharapan dan semangat yang diperbaharui. Rentak perasaan bagi kebaktian haruslah, secara relatif, lebih senyap dan berenungan pada permulaan dan mengalir ke semangat berkeyakinan pada pengakhiran. PANGGILAN BERBAKTI: P: Selamat datang ke masa penantian yang tenang. J: Kami telah datang dari masa yang sangat sibuk. P: Mari datang dan dapatkan istirehat. Mari datang dan temukan harapan. J: Ini adalah malam yang terakhir untuk tahun ini. Kita tidak tahu apa yang akan berlaku. P: Jangan takut. Nantikanlah dengan sukacita untuk kehadiran Tuhan dalam hidup anda. PERSEMBAHAN PEMBERIAN: Damai-Nya Seperti Sungai DOXOLOGI PERJANJIAN BARU Pastor: Rev. Wong Hie Ing Dalam perjanjian pertama, Tuhan memilih Israel menjadi orang yang istimewa dan untuk mentaati Hukum. Tuhan kita Yesus Kristus, melalui kematian dan kebangkitannya, telah dibuat perjanjian baru dengan semua orang yang percaya kepadanya. Kita berada dalam perjanjian ini dan kita memegang nama Kristus. Pada sudut lain, Tuhan berjanji untuk memberi kita hidup baru dalam Kristus. Sudut lain juga, kita dijamin hidup, bukan untuk diri kita tetapi untuk Tuhan. Hari ini, kita diminta untuk memperbaharui perjanjian kita yang telah mengikat kita dengan Tuhan. Jemaat duduk, dan Pastor berkata; Yang dikasihi dalam Kristus, mari kita sekali lagi minta untuk kita sendiri perjanjian ini yang telah dibuat Tuhan dengan orangnya, dan ambil kuk Kristus atas kita. Mengambil kuknya atas kita bermaksud kita merelakan Dia menetapkan tempat dan pekerjaan kita, dan sebagai ganjarana adalah Dia sendiri. Banyak pelayanan yang telah Kristus lakukan; ada yang senang, ada yang susah; ada yang membawa kehormatan, ada yang membawa kemarahan; ada yang sesuai kepada kecondongan yang lazim dan keinginan terhadap harta benda, ada juga yang bertentangan dengan kedua-duanya. Dalam beberapa hal kita mengizinkan Kristus dan diri kita, ada juga kita tidak dapat mengizinkan Kristus kecuali jika kita menyangkal diri kita. Kuasa yang ada untuk melakukan semua hal ini diberi oleh Kristus, yang menguatkan kita. Oleh sebab itu, mari kita membuat perjanjian Tuhan ini milik kita. Mari kita memberi diri kita yang baru kepadanya, mempercayainya dalam janjinya dan bergantung kepada anugerahnya. Jemaat berdiri, dan Pastor berkata; Tuhan Allah, Bapa yang suci, semasa Engkau memanggil kami melalui Yesus Kristus untuk berkongsi dalam Perjanjian anugerah ini, dan kami memikul kuk dengan penuh ketaatan dan sukacita, dengan kasih untuk- Mu, kami menetapkan diri untuk mencari dan melakukan kehendakmu yang sempurna. Kami tidak lagi diri kami, tetapi kami milik Engkau. 3
Jemaat: Saya memberi diri saya sepenuhnya kepadamu,tuhan. Tugaskan saya kepada tempat saya di dalam ciptaanmu. Biarkan saya menderita untukmu. Beri saya pekerjaan yang Engkau ada untuk saya lakukan. Beri saya tugas atau saya mengundur sementara Engkau memanggil yang lain. Angkat saya atau rendahkan saya. Beri saya kekayaan atau biarkan saya dalam kemiskinan. Saya memberi dengan rela semua yang saya ada kepadamu. Dan sekarang, Allah yang kudus, Bapa, Anak dan Roh Kudus, Engkau milik saya dan saya milikmu. Jadilah begini.
