2015 2 3 Disillusion of Ivory Tower and Chaos of Identity A Case Study of the Neet Subgroup with Tertiary Degrees Han Qian Zhu Zhiyong Abstract This research focused on the life conditions the formation process and reasons of the N EET subgroup with tertiary degrees as well as the influence of higher education on their life choice. Q ualitative research methods w ere unitilized to study tw o levels of research subjects the N EET group from TieBa of BaiDu and the N EET individuals. Through interview observation and documentary review this study collected abundant data. Based on the analysis of w ord frequency extracted from self - statements and other groups opinions this study made a rich description of the N EET group s psychological characteristics and their self - aw areness. Based on the analysis of individual experiences this study found both work failure and game experience functioned simultaneously in N EET transformation w ith w ork failure being the push force and game experience being the pull force.
