School of Information and Electrical Engineering, China University of M ining and Technology, Xuzhou 221008, China) Abstract: Specifications such as current, speed and thrust force should be largely changed, when perma2 nent magnet linear synchronous motor ( PMLSM ) happen to load sudden change (LSC). U sing state vari2 able method based on inductance matrix to analyze the motor LSC characteristics, it is difficult to account for PMLSM magnetic circuit, p rimary tooth2slot and lim ited length of p rimary core and so on. The paper was focused on PMLSM LSC characteristics adop ting state variable finite element method. LSC and steady state oscillation characteristics were calculated and analyzed. Reasonable exp lanation were obtained and simulation results were compared w ith the experimental value. The results show that m ain factor of speed fluctuation in steady operation condition is end component of detent force, w indings resistance effects power angle curve and the motor can work at first or third quadrant region. LSC characteristics have p ro2 vided the theoretical basis of PMLSM op timal design, control strategy imp lement and safety operations.
