College of Fisheries and Life, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai 201306, China) Abstract: To investigate the effect of acute temperature stress on biochemical indicators of juvenile Pampus argenteus, we designed two treatment groups ( 22 and 32 ) and a control group ( 27 ) with stress time of 42 h. The GPT in serum and GOT in liver in two experimental groups changed oppositely; AKP varied in an opposite manner but ACP changed in the same way; LDH in 22 group changed in a wave-like manner ( P < 0. 05). Na +, K +, Cl - and Ca 2+ concentrations in three groups changed differently. The Na + / K + -ATPase activity in gill in 32 group decreased, but that in kidney in 22 group increased first then decreased ( P < 0. 05). In two experimental groups, Ca 2 + / Mg 2 + -ATPase activities in gill and kidney varied in oppositely ( P < 0. 05). It is suggested that acute temperature stress, which should be avoided in breeding for juvenile P. argenteus, affects normal metabolismof the juveniles significantly.
