4 Colored Gemstone Care and Enhancement Guide - Colored Gemstones are often enhanced in the production process. - Colored Gemstones offered by Costco have not been enhanced unless otherwise stated. - Avoid using any harsh chemicals, like bleach or ammonia, on any gemstone or metal as these can cause extreme damage to your jewelry. - Every piece of our jewelry with diamonds or gemstones has been inspected by one of our GIA Graduate Gemologists prior to shipping, to meet Costco's high quality standards. - Most jewelry can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush or cloth. Gemstone Type Amazonite Amethyst Common Treatments / Enhancements Impregnated with a colorless wax, paraffin, plastic or oil to improve appearance. Irradiated and heated to darken Recommended Special Care Avoid chemicals and ultrasonic. Extreme heat can cause color fading. Amazonite scratches easily.
