13 J M A.. 6 C N On the Nature of Chameleon-like Law concerning the Reproductive Right Xu Guodong Law School of Xiamen University Xiamen Fujian Abstract The right of reproduction first appeared in a quite passive form on males. In the 19th century the movement for women s rights led to the conception of reproductive right of females. These two different reproductive rights in the later twentieth century finally merged into one genderless conception. While using the same conception as to the issue of abortion different gender is still treated differently. The nature of reproduction changed along with the situation of population in specified states. Some states regard reproduction as obligation while the degree thereof varies. Some states consider it as right. Notwithstanding such differences states deprive the right of reproduction as a means of fighting against criminals and defending society.
