Absentees for Examinations 考 试 时 学 生 缺 席 There will be no make-up examinations for pupils who are absent from any school examinations. As part of the school s effort to monitor pupils learning progress, absentees will complete the papers at their own time and hand them in to the subject teachers for marking. Two exceptions are granted for absentees (with valid medical certificates) of Primary 6 SA1 and Primary 4 SA2 to sit for make-up papers in consideration of their Direct School Application (DSA) to secondary schools and subject based banding at Primary 5. Pupils who are absent because of illness from any school examinations are to submit a valid medical certificate to their form teacher upon their return. Medical certificates or letters issued by traditional Chinese medical (TCM) practitioners will not be accepted. An MC (Medical Certificate) entry will be recorded if a valid medical certificate is submitted timely. The year-end overall results of absentees will be calculated based on the other examinations taken in the year. Access Arrangement 考 试 特 别 安 排 If your child / ward has a learning disability or a medical condition (e.g. fractured writing finger, hearing impairment), you may apply for Access Arrangement during the school examinations by writing in to the school with a western doctor s letter of recommendation attached. For Access Arrangement during PSLE, a separate application has to be submitted to Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board through the school. 3. Mathematics Department 数 学 部 The school examination consists of two written papers comprising three booklets. Both papers will be scheduled on the same day with a break between the 2 papers. The school examination format for Primary 6 follows the PSLE examination format. Only calculator models approved by Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (refer to SEAB website: http://www.seab.gov.sg/) are allowed in Paper 2 of both Mathematics and Foundation Mathematics examinations. Pupils may use any of these approved models of calculators e.g. Sharp EL-W531S. Pupils are expected to show their thought processes through working steps. For questions where method marks are awarded, pupils may lose these marks if no working is shown. Pupils have been taught right from Primary 1 that number statements should be written to get method marks. A pupil who gives only the vertical calculation without any number statement will get only the answer mark for the question (See Pupil B below: only 1 mark is awarded).
