Chung Chi College. That the Chinese University is an emblem of the integration of Chinese and Western ideologies can find no better expression than in the crest of Chung Chi. The College crest features the cross and quotes from the Book of Rites, which translates as In Pursuit of Excellence. The Christian background of Chung Chi has endowed its campus with an ecology that is pure and sanctified. As one walks along its many tree-lined paths, chances are that one will be captivated by the full and florid music coming from the pipe organ in the College Chapel which can serve to cleanse our souls. Take a turn and one reaches the Lake Ad Excellentiam, where a pavilion, with its green slates and red pillars, and an arched bridge spanning over the water, present a totally Chinese garden landscape and invites one to reflect on one s life. Students educated in the midst of such idyllic refinement are very likely to become outstanding figures who occupy important positions in various professions and industries after graduation. They have not forgotten the duties they owe to the College, and their gifts and contributions to the College have ranged from participation in the mentorship programme to sitting on the Board of Trustees, with tremendous results in all such endeavours.
