6 BASIC TERMINOLOGY A management application is a program that initiates management requests. It uses the DMI to perform management operations. GUI and a standard network management protocol (such as SNMP or CMIP) the DMI. DMI Service Provider (DMI SP) is analogous to the DMI Service Layer of previous DMI specifications 網路管理台灣培生教育出版股份有限公司 11 ELEMENTS OF THE DMI Component descriptions are defined in a language called the Management Information Format, or MIF.
