院 長 的 話 Message From Our Dean 科 技 管 理 學 院 黃 朝 熙 院 長 College of Technology Management 本 院 在 今 年 3 月 份 向 學 校 提 出 申 請 成 立 兩 個 在 職 專 班 : 科 技 管 理 學 院 財 務 金 融 碩 士 在 職 專 班, 以 及 科 技 管 理 學 院 公 共 政 策 與 管 理 碩 士 在 職 專 班, 期 望 能 在 明 年 暑 假 開 始 順 利 招 生 目 前 學 校 非 常 鼓 勵 在 職 教 育, 在 職 專 班 的 成 立 可 擴 大 學 院 以 及 學 校 的 整 體 社 會 影 響 力 科 管 院 自 2000 年 成 立 至 今, 已 成 立 兩 個 在 職 專 班 : 清 華 EMBA/MBA 其 學 員 來 源 有 兩 部 分 : 大 約 有 超 過 半 數 是 以 新 竹 科 技 園 區 為 主 的 中 高 階 主 管 經 理 人 階 層, 另 外 包 含 桃 竹 苗 地 區 中 小 企 業, 最 遠 至 台 北 台 中 財 務 金 融 碩 士 在 職 專 班 的 學 員 則 招 收 金 融 服 務 體 系 裡 中 高 階 主 管, 對 於 本 院 與 學 校 在 金 融 產 業 可 建 立 更 深 更 廣 的 人 脈 關 係 另 外, 公 共 政 策 與 管 理 在 職 專 班, 招 收 公 部 門 與 社 會 企 業 的 管 理 人 才, 即 國 家 公 務 員 政 府 部 門 官 員, 以 及 非 政 府 組 織 (NGO) 學 員 等 此 二 在 職 專 班 除 了 提 升 本 院 的 影 響 力, 本 院 師 資 影 響 力 也 可 延 伸 至 政 府 部 門 與 金 融 體 系, 此 發 展 對 本 院 在 推 動 AACSB 具 加 分 效 果, 符 合 AACSB 所 強 調 學 院 在 學 術 社 會 專 業 方 面 的 影 響 力 需 取 得 平 衡, 並 為 學 生 帶 來 最 佳 學 習 成 效

科 管 院 校 慶 活 動 相 關 訊 息
Professor Galit Shmueli is a distinguished professor in business analytics and data mining methodology. Her research is mainly developing and evaluating different methods from statistics, data mining, and visualization for use with contemporary data and especially Big Data. These methods are useful in any field that collects data, from healthcare to education, marketing, operations, manufacturing, and more. Today, data is collected and used by many: from small businesses to corporates and governments. During our interview, Professor Galit pointed out that the Institute of Service Science (ISS) is very special because we have the unusual combination of expertise in different fields, all focused around service. The reason why Professor Galit chose NTHU was because of the novel combination of expertise and interest and the humanistic and entrepreneurial spirit that is unique to NTHUs ISS. Professor Galit has taught in many parts of the world. She found that students from Taiwan, especially her NTHU students, are extremely personable and have an open learning attitude. She appreciates students strong ability to work in groups to achieve excellent team results. She encourages students to complement this skill by also working individually. Professor Galit pointed out that studying in Taiwan is much healthier than in other places because of the wholesome campus environment - there are no hangover students coming to class after late night parties! At ISS, there are multiple activities where students can interact academically and socially with each other and with faculty. Such activities help students learn important lessons about themselves and others, paving the path to their growth. Nowadays, learning English is important in the global market. Professor Galit suggested students to travel and study in different places or to be exchange student in a place where they use English as the main language. She regarded this practice as the best way to improve English ability. Also, she encourages our students to take courses taught in English and to be confident to speak. Finally, Professor Galit emphasized that knowledge is infinite. Learning will become more exciting and we will become more humble. She encouraged students to open their mind up. To take a course outside your field or to engage in activities different from your main focus will make you completely different.
