The procedures for the election of 2010 Elective National Officers will be conducted in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association and By-laws of Junior Chamber International Hong Kong. All candidates are required to observe and comply with these clauses therein. Voting strength for elective National Officers were calculated based on the membership declaration of Chapters in the Joint Board Meeting on 5 September, 2009. Voting strength of each Chapter comprised of membership vote, affiliation vote and executive vote. The chairman also explained the procedure of balloting briefing and invited the question from the floor. Motion carried As mentioned in the report of Nomination Committee, the National Vice President (NVP) candidates Johnny Kwan, Franco Ma, Michael Tang, National Secretary General Candidate Kitty Wang and National Honorary Treasurer Candidate Cynthia Wong failed to fulfill the specified requirement as stated in By-law 12-12-2 (C), that is, candidates shall be a current National Officer or shall have been a National Officer for at least one year. Meanwhile, NEVP Candidate Timmy Lee failed to fulfill the specified requirement as stated in By-law 12-4-5, that is, candidates shall attend Candidates Training School organized by the Chamber within fifteen days before the Closing Annual General Meeting of the National Convention. Election Chairman then invited a motion to grant waiver en bloc to the candidates who failed to meet the specified requirement as stated in By-Law of 12-4-9 of JCIHK before they could stand for election. The chairman suggested that such waiver granted subject to the approval of the General Assembly by 2/3 majority. The motion of the grant waiver was moved by North District Junior Chamber, and was seconded by Ocean Junior Chamber. There was no objection from the floor. The motion was adopted unanimously. Motion carried 8.7 Presentation of Candidates and Balloting following each presentation National President Candidate Gene Tang presented a five-minute speech. Balloting was carried out immediately after the presentation. At this juncture, Hong Kong Jayceettes Junior Chamber raised out that they had one more executive arrived. Chamber Executive Phyllis Chan reconfirmed the no. of votes of Hong Kong Jayceettes Junior Chamber had four executive votes and their total no. of votes was eight. Remarks by National President Senator Ken Wong National President Senator Ken Wong expressed his thanks to Junior Chamber International Hong Kong and he fully treasured and enjoyed his JC life in the year. Due to the economic downturn, there were many difficulties and challenges need to overcome. He appreciated the National Board for their support to him as well as his family. He noticed the sincere attitude of Chapter Presidents and hoped the fellowship would continue in the following years. Throughout this year, he has tried his best to attend all of the events organized by the 19 chapters and he found that he has gained so much from them. He wished that JC spirit can be found in all JC members to achieve the goal to host the ASPAC in Hong Kong in the year 2012. He also wished he could work toward a goal of being the World President in his JC life. 35
