26 年 Analysis of Gas-Channel in Gas-Assisted Injection Molding with Computer-Aided Engineering Bih-Sen Chen Chang-Xiang Dai Department of Mechanical Engineering Abstract The computational analysis which is employed to create and develop a new plastic floor product in the present study, can increase the quality of the product and reduce total cost. For the filling equilibrium of melt and gas during the gas-assisted injection molding process, the position and number of melt gate and gas pin are changed from two side gate to one center gate and gas pin. For the achievement of optimal product quality, the design of the number of gas channel entrance is included one point and four point. The diameter of the domain gas channel is included 6 mm., 8 mm. and 10 mm., and the type of main gas channel is straight line and cross type, respectively. In terms of the computation analysis from Moldex3D gas-assisted injection molding, the result items contain melt front distribution, gas transverse penetration, packing pressure distribution, clamp force, volume shrinkage, warpage and deformation, flatness, total filling volume as well as material weight. Based upon the computational comparison, the optimal gas channel design of gas-assisted injection molding can be developed. From the computational analysis, the mold design parameter of four points for the diameter of main gas channel being 8 mm. which is better than one point gas channel can let the gas reach the end of gas channel and reduce the total plastic weight. Further, for the design of one gas channel with 8 mm. diameter, the quality including warpage deformation and flatness is most optimal. Furthermore, for the type of gas channel, the straight flow line is better than cross flow line, due to the small solid plastic at the end of gas channel, small volume shrinkage, warpage deformation, and stable gas flow.
