2016 2 103 Abstract: As a sender of narrative information narrator is theoretically omniscient while paradoxically the more limited narrator is the more enticing narrative will be. Self-limitation of narrator's authority is a common for modern fictions. A narrator has many ways to confine himself /herself which can achieve different effects. The trend from omniscence to self-limitation of the narrator occurs with modern consciousness. Chinese Zen realizes that saying nothing is more effective than saying everything. There is less Zen koans to preach Zen more about enlightening the disciples by beating trumpeting and keeping silent.
