六 A Comparative Analysis of Asian and Western Professional Baseball Players Physical Stature Wang, Ching-Chung National Chengchi University Abstract The purpose of this research: Conduct an investigation to determine whether there are any significant differences between Asian and Western professional baseball players in age, height, weight, and body mass index (BMI).The data for this research derives from six Taiwanese teams, eleven Japanese teams, eight Korean teams, and thirty North American teams; a total of 2,366 well-known players are the research subjects for this analysis. An independent sample t-test was used for the analysis of data. Analysis of the differences among the four North American, Japanese, Taiwanese, and Korean reveals the following: (1) North Americans and Japanese professional baseball players differ significantly (P<.05) in age, height, weight, and BMI. (2) North American and Korean professional baseball players differ significantly (P<.05) in age, height, weight, and BMI. (3) North American and Taiwanese professional baseball players do not differ significantly in age and BMI (P>.05). But they do differ significantly (P<.05) in height and weight.
