3 Award Presentation Ceremony Background Utility Safety Competitions consisted of 4 competitions: Slogan Competition 口號 Drawing Competition 繪畫 BIM Competition 建築資訊模擬 ( 基建 ) Practical Competition 實務 Slogan, Drawing and BIM Competition have completed successfully, the award presentation ceremony was therefore held to share the delights with the public and the winners. The ceremony was held as follow: Date: 17 th January 2015 (Sat) Time: 10:30am 11:50am Venue: Lecture Room Z211 in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Participants: around 120 3

4 Rundown Opening Speech Sharply at 10:30am, Ir Dr. King WONG kicked off the ceremony with introducing the competition background and expressing thanks to every guest and participants. Guest of Honor Ir HON Chi Keung, JP, the director of Civil Engineering and Development Department, Government of the HKSAR ( 土木工程拓展署署長韓志強太平紳士 ) was introduced briefly about his history and contribution to construction industry and the whole society. 4

The first team was Drainage Services Department and Kingsfield Engineering Limited, conducting presentation on Happy Valley Underground Storm water Storage Scheme, contents as follow: 1. Project Objective and Scope of Works 2. Development of BIM Model 3. Use of BIM Model 4. Application of Cloud Computing on BIM 5

6 Below are the pictures of their photos: The next team was Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited presenting BIM applications on Clash Detection and Creating Combine Service Drawings (CSD). The last team was CLP Group, presenting SMART Cable & Utility Management Solution with BIM. 6

7 BIM Competition Award Presentation Guest of Honor Ir HON Chi Keung firstly issued awards to the BIM Projects (Process Plant) Winners. The CLP Group won the Champion. 7

8 The 1st Runner-up was Drainage Services Department and Kingsfield Engineering Limited. Guest of Honor Ir HON Chi Keung issued awards to the BIM Projects (Underground Utilities) Winners. Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited won the Champion. 8

9 The Hong Kong Polytechnic University won the Merit prize. All BIM winners took a photo with all guests. 9

11 Mr. Dominic LO, the AVP of the Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Ltd., presented the awards to the Slogan Competition Winners in Secondary School-Junior Division. After that, Ir. CHAN Chi Ming, the Deputy Secretary for Development (Works) 2 of Development Bureau, issued the awards to the Slogan Competition Winners in Secondary School-Senior Division. 12 Drawing Competition Award Presentation Ir. CHAN Chi Ming, the Deputy Secretary for Development (Works) 2 of Development Bureau, issued the awards to the Drawing Competition Winners in Primary School- Junior Division. Ir. WU Chou Kit, the Council President of The Macau Institution of Engineers, issued the awards to the Drawing Competition winners in Primary School-Senior Division. After that, Ir. CHUNG Kum Wah, the Dir of Drainage Services of the Drainage Services Department, presented the awards to the Drawing Competition winners in Secondary School-Junior Division. Lastly, Ir. LEUNG Kwong Ho, SBS, OBE, JP, issued the awards to the Drawing Competition winners in Secondary School-Senior Division. Souvenir Presentation In order to express our genuine gratitude, Ir Dr. King WONG presented a souvenir to Guest of Honor Ir HON Chi Keung. Host Organizations donated the souvenir budgets to the Community Chest of Hong Kong and presented the appreciation certificate to 13

Technical Seminar - How accurate Utility Survey can help your project progress and safety? The seminar was held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and was presented by Ir Dr.

15 Technical Seminar - How accurate Utility Survey can help your project progress and safety? The seminar was held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and was presented by Ir Dr. King WONG in the same venue as Award Presentation Ceremony. This seminar was introducing the relationship between the accuracy of Utility Survey and the progress and safety of project. Ir Dr. King WONG firstly introduced the basic background of Utility Survey and the features of different roles involved in Utility Survey. Then, he shared his experience and views on causes of Utility Incidents in order to clarify and eliminate the public misunderstanding and misconception about Utility Survey. Other than these, Ir Dr. King WONG demonstrated some successful projects on Utility Investigation and brought out some new directions on Utility Survey in the future. Through this seminar, audiences knew more about how utility survey benefits construction projects on the issue of safety, progress and efficiency and had an overview on Utility Survey. 15

Technical Seminar Utility Specialists in the New Era The seminar was held right after the Award Presentation Ceremony, from 11:50 am to 12:30pm, Ir Dr. King WONG was the speaker of the seminar.

16 Technical Seminar Utility Specialists in the New Era The seminar was held right after the Award Presentation Ceremony, from 11:50 am to 12:30pm, Ir Dr. King WONG was the speaker of the seminar. This seminar was about the brief introduction of nowadays Utility Specialist. Firstly, Ir Dr. King WONG introduced few emphases of HKIUS. They are 4 Main Objectives, 5 Pillars, 4 Success Factors and 1 Continuing Improvement. Then, Ir Dr. King WONG further elaborated the details of each of them. Especially for 5 Pillars, Ir Dr. King WONG mentioned that he was quite confident that HKIUS performs well in most of these aspects, expect Professionalization. He believed that Utility Specialists are in lack of personnel recognition and need more supports from the clients and the public. Besides, Ir Dr. King WONG shared the ideas of 4 Success Factors and demonstrated how these factors nurture and enhance the growth and development of Utility Survey industry. Lastly, Ir Dr. King WONG demonstrated new initiatives of HKIUS and illustrated the ideas of Project 348 for continuing improvement. 16
