2 Product Information for Chinese: 1. STEP 7 is only released for "Chinese simplified". 2. You can only edit projects which were created with the English or Chinese character set. 3. Please make sure that you use the single byte format when entering addresses. 4. If you use the symbolic address assignment please make sure that you put the symbolic names in quotation marks ("<symbolic name>"). 5. Contrary to the statements in the online help and in the documentation, STEP 7 Chinese can only be run under the operating systems Chinese Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Professional with Multilingual User Interface Pack. 6. If display errors arise with 'MS Windows XP Professional with Multilingual User Interface Pack', we recommend that you use Chinese MS Windows XP Professional. 7. If you use the CSV format, there may be display errors with MS Windows XP Professional with Multilingual User Interface. For example, Excel is installed in English on a computer with Win XP mui. You want to translate texts (titles, comments, message texts...) which you created into another language. In this case you should select the export format XLS using the "Managing Multilingual Text" function. If you use the corresponding Office XP Multilingual User Interface version (Chinese), there will not be any display errors with CSV formats when using MS Windows XP Professional with Multilingual User Interface. 8. If you install STEP 7 into a folder with Chinese characters, the software may not react correctly. You should therefore install STEP 7 into a folder with Roman characters. 9. All statements that refer to "Using Foreign-Language Character Sets" in the documentation can only apply if the STEP 7 language is set to "English" (SIMATIC Manager > Options > Customize..., "Language" Tab). 10.
