This hotly tipped city destination is attracting culture-hungry tourists and business travelers who now, with sublime accommodation like B.O.G. Hotel providing an alternative to faceless international hotel chains, have an extra reason to linger. Design-wise, B.O.G. Hotel echoes Bogotá s mix of ancient and modern by cleverly combining smooth manmade materials and new building methods with natural inspiration from two of Colombia s richest resources: gold and emeralds. With a design inspired by Colombia s greatest natural treasures gold and emeralds the geometric B.O.G. Hotel is a unique and luxuriously designed hotel with the wow factor of Nini s approach. The colour scene is made with gold and green, grays and beige which provide relaxation and respite. The décor is neat and modern, combining elegant elements of exuberant design with strong chromatic shades. B.O.G. Hotel has embraced its conception in the most impressive way, from the lobby to the

All 55 rooms by award-winning designer integrates natural stone, bronze, mirrors, mosaics and tinted glass to create restful spaces. Even though the in-room décor is intentionally simple, all the comfort wasn t kept aside. The futuristic rooftop pool and minimalist bar allow unobstructed views of the city and its surrounds through a barely-there transparent screen. The interior architecture and design project integrates all its history and respect for the space s soul, what comes to life as an elegant and subtle environment. The interior design s concept was developed entirely based on the world of the arts and entertainment, it is felt in every room, area or detail of the Hotel Teatro, where its lighting is a key element of the whole project, based on the notion of involving minimum visibility of the light sources. Nini Andrade Silva had implemented this concept for an ever higher goal to let light give maximum rendering to the textures while having minimum intrusion to the architecture and interiors. The main entrance offer us an eloquent poem from one of the greatest Portuguese Poets of the century - Almeida Garrett, just as a heartfelt tribute to one of the main personalities of the Portuguese Theater and one of the greatest figures of Portuguese Romanticism. Part of every entertainment experience is the atmosphere where it takes place! In the background, the restaurant and bar become themselves a stage with audience and his own privileged theater boxes which provide comfort and privacy to the guests. The restaurant is made from a palette of materials making its luxurious design possible, as a dream carved into reality. Penetrating the walls and on the way to the rooms, the corridors are coated by large curtains 家 具 设 计 是 不 同 风 格 的 经 典 设 计 的 融 合 舞 台 帷 幕 遍 布 在 整 个 空 间 里 in order to give intimacy and coziness throughout the hotel. The 74 rooms - Gallery, Tribune, Audience, Junior Suite and Suite - spread over the six floors, are comfortable and sophisticated with shades of gold and bronze. Offering guests a wonderful variety of accommodation options made by modern amenities and a unique ambience, the bedrooms are similar to "perfect urban ". The art sensation overflows inside the rooms which represent the obvious care for detail from Nini Andrade Silva.

Por Ángela María Escobar Fotografías: cortesía Design Hotels, fundada en 1993 en Berlín, reúne en la actualidad 220 hoteles independientes, de 40 países, que sobresalen por tener propuestas de diseño y arquitectura excepcionales. Cada año, la prestigiosa organización recibe más de 400 aplicaciones de establecimientos que aspiran a formar parte de ella; sin embargo, sólo el 20% lo consigue. Cuatro proyectos creados por la diseñadora portuguesa Nini Andrade figuran en ese selecto grupo: el Fontana Park Hotel, en Lisboa; el Hotel Teatro, en Oporto; The Vine Hotel, en Funchal, en la isla portuguesa de Madeira, y el más reciente de ellos, el B.O.G. Hotel, en Bogotá, que es, hasta ahora, el único miembro colombiano. Nini es una premiada y prolífica profesional, autora del diseño interior no sólo de proyectos hoteleros, sino de viviendas y espacios comerciales en distintos países de Europa, Asia, África y América, así como de piezas de mobiliario; y reconocida por su interés en crear tendencias y sorprender en cada uno de sus trabajos, que se caracterizan por la calidez, el buen gusto y la innovación. Mientras le daba los últimos retoques a su primera obra en nuestro país cuyo diseño arquitectónico es de Guillermo Arias, pocas horas antes de su apertura oficial, nos concedió esta entrevista. Casaviva: Desde cuándo surgió su interés por el diseño? Nini Andrade: Creo que así como estaba predestinada a que todos me dijeran Nini mi nombre es María Isabel, también estaba escrito que debía elegir esta profesión. Desde pequeña decidí que me gustaría ser azafata, trabajar en un circo o ser diseñadora. Y, finalmente, hoy combino las tres actividades: me la paso en aviones, mi vida es como un circo y, claro, soy diseñadora. CV.: Además de estudiar diseño en Portugal, se formó en otros países, con qué complementó su carrera? N.A.: Estudié pintura de murales en Sudáfrica, trabajé con diversos diseñadores de quienes aprendí muchísimo en Nueva York, luego viajé a Dinamarca, donde hice un curso especializado en arreglos florales, y todo eso lo complementé con talleres de arquitectura de interiores en París y Londres. CV.: Cuál fue el primer hotel que diseñó y cómo fue esa experiencia? N.A.: Aunque llevo más de veinte años trabajando, Aquapura, en el valle del río Duero, en Portugal, fue el primer hotel Hotel aquapura Valle del Duero, Portugal de una serie fantástica de proyectos de ese tipo, que gozan de amplio reconocimiento internacional. Me exigió una labor de diseño muy fuerte y completa; fueron cinco años de trabajo durante los cuales viajé tres a China, Tailandia e India, países donde diseñé y compré muchos artículos y antigüedades para ese espacio, que es como un pequeño y lindo museo, que, además, forma parte de la organización Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Fue una labor muy interesante. CV: Conocía algo sobre el diseño y la arquitectura colombianas antes de recibir la propuesta de trabajar en un proyecto aquí? N.A.: No conocía nada; trabajo mucho y no suelo fijarme en las creaciones de otros, porque no me gusta dejarme influenciar. Y, sinceramente, no tenía el mejor concepto del país. Sin embargo, cuando me invitaron, dije: Está bien, vamos a ver qué tal es. Ahora siempre estoy hablando de Colombia; hace poco estaba trabajando en China y les decía a todos que tienen que venir, me parece espectacular. Conozco Bogotá, Cartagena y las Islas del Rosario, me encanta su gente, he traído amigos y pienso que podría vivir aquí. CV.: Cuándo y cómo recibió la propuesta para diseñar el B.O.G. Hotel? N.A.: Hace tres años, el arquitecto y constructor Nicolás Manrique estaba buscando un diseñador de interiores que fuera reconocido internacionalmente. Buscó en Internet y se dio cuenta de que yo había ganado premios en los European Design Hotel Awards, entre otros; fue así como me descubrió. No obstante, también se interesó en el trabajo de un diseñador francés. Entonces viajó con el arquitecto Guillermo Arias a Francia y luego a Portugal a entrevistarse con cada uno y se decidieron por mí. La verdad, me encanté con ellos y con las fotos que me mostraron de Bogotá. Un hotel boutique tiene que ser como una joya: pequeño, cómodo, perfecto. Todo debe ser especial. 56 CASAVIVA CASAVIVA 57

Dabei diente der berühmte Wein der Insel Nini Andrade Silva als Leitmotiv: Entsprechend der Schattierungen einer Rebe in den unterschiedlichen Jahreszeiten sind Grau, Grün, Violett und Braun die jeweils ein Stockwerk dominierenden Farben, sorgfältig ausgewählte Materialien sowie (trauben-)runde Formen schaffen einen durchgängigen Bezug zum Thema. Getönte, vollautomatische Schiebetüren im ersten Stock des Gebäudes eröffnen den Blick zunächst auf futuristisch gestaltete, hinterleuchtete Rezeptionsmöbel auf eingelassenen Kieselsteinen erreicht man von hier aus das in warmen Brauntönen gestaltete Foyer. Unübersehbar ist der Bezug zur Rebe auch in der mit Holz- möbeln ausgestatteten Terra Lounge. Mit Motiven versehene Lichtdecken und vor allem die Badmöbel in den einzelnen Zimmer lassen keinen Zweifel mehr: Hier geht es um die Geschichte und Kultur der Insel, deren Wahrnehmung im Top Floor Gourmet Restaurant oder im Vinotherapy Spa genussvoll intensiviert werden kann. cr T Looking from the outside, one cannot guess the successful interior design of the Nini Andrade Silva took the island's famous wine as the leitmotif: corresponding to the shades of a vine in the various seasons, grey, green, purple and brown are the colours which each dominate one of the floors while carefully selected materials as well as shapes round like grapes create a consistent reference to the theme. Tinted fully automatic sliding doors on the first floor of the building open up the view initially onto the futuristically designed, back-lit furniture of the reception area - on pebbles set into the floor, from here one accesses the foyer designed in warm shades of brown. The reference to vines is also highly visible in the Terra Lounge equipped with wood furniture. Luminous ceilings with motifs and, above all, the bathroom furniture in the individual rooms finally leave no doubt: here everything is about the history and the culture of the island whose perception is to be enjoyably intensified in the Top Floor Gourmet Restaurant or in the Vinotherapy Spa. Natural treasures that inspired Guillermo Arias from Octubre Arquitectura studio who designed the architectural and lighting project and Nini Andrade Silva who designed the B.O.G. Hotel s interiors. Architecturally speaking, the property comprises two buildings and assumes the appearance of a large granite and natural stone sculpture with large glass and aluminium windows on the façade. The interior boasts a luxury and almost affluent air, a stark contrast with the precise and rigorous architecture. Nini Andrade Silva explains I chose inspiration from Colombia s most precious resources as a tribute to the history and culture of this land which I have tried to translate into a contemporary language. Hotel: the lobby-lounge is dominated by an amazing gold-leaf metal woven wall, created by the well-known Colombian artist Olga de Amaral. The sculptures, colours and fine finishings of the furniture along with the search for special techniques such as that of the marble ceilings with hand-crafted geometric reliefs or the gold-coloured glass reception desk with fibre-optic installations, depict an original and scenographic location. Despite featuring shades of gold, bronze and green, combined with grey and beige tones, the decor of the 55 rooms, with their gold resin walls and ceilings, is simple, functional and comfortable. The rooms have soundproof windows and the hotel has 500 different types of linen in addition to a full provision of exclusive courtesy products. The bathrooms, with custom-made furniture, are embellished natural stone with bronze finishes, mirrors, mosaics and coloured glass. Inaugurated less than a year ago in the North District of the city, it is the first Design Hotel of Colombia and is already one of the most exclusive the capital city has to offer, not only for the famous, award-winning chef Leonor Espinosa or for the level of service that far exceeds the standard for four star hotels. Ayant obtenu en 1976 son propre gouvernement, un hymne, un drapeau et des députés, la province portugaise indépendante est gérée par un président régional depuis trente-cinq ans, avec des échecs (une plage de sable à 2,5 millions d euros détruite par la mer) et des réussites. Il suffit de grimper au sommet de la Iglesia do Colegio pour observer Funchal à 360, pimpante, colorée, ses sols graphiques de mosaïque bicolore. De même, la rue Santa Maria (XV e siècle) a subi une rénovation complète jusqu à sa décoration par des artistes locaux. L aéroport, les routes neuves, l émergence d une hôtellerie design sont aussi à saluer. Cependant la fête est finie, les coffres sont vides. Francisco Clode Souza, directeur des musées et du patrimoine, initiateur en 2001 du musée d Art contemporain, s arrache les cheveux : «Je dirige un patrimoine exceptionnel sans un sou! L Etat et les entreprises n investissent rien dans l art. Cela ne m empêche pas de préparer un projet avec l UNESCO autour de la nature et du paysage ou, grâce à l aide du World Monuments Fund (US), de restaurer monuments et peintures de la cathédrale de Funchal.» A ses côtés, une nouvelle génération multiplie les idées, croise les disciplines, forme un réseau alternatif qui collabore, car elle a conscience que le tourisme de masse nuit à son île (trente paquebots de croisière par mois). Cette jeunesse inventive tient à démontrer que Madère, confidentielle, 22 km de large. L île est divisée en communes. Funchal est la capitale de l archipel. Températures moyennes : 23 C l été, 17 C l hiver, qui sont aussi les températures de la mer. Y aller : Escale obligatoire à Lisbonne, puis environ 1 h 30 de vol jusqu à Funchal, avec la compagnie aérienne nationale TAP notamment (à partir de 423 ). Se déplacer : Une location de voiture est conseillée. Les routes sont excellentes mais sous tunnel (le plus long s étend sur plus de 3 km!). Dès que possible, tentez les petites routes pour apercevoir le paysage, notamment les anciennes voies sans entretien et normalement fermées, mais dont des portions rouvrent en été. Une balade en bateau se révèle également un régal. Simple promenade, pêche sportive, observation des oiseaux ou privatisation pour un événement, plusieurs opérateurs offrent leurs services. Parmi eux, Horizonte do Atlântico ( moderne, poétique et artistique, doit être protégée. Pour toute information : / Depuis la terrasse de l hôtel The Vine, la vue porte sur les collines habitées de Funchal. 2/ La salle du restaurant. 3/ Nini Andrade, décoratrice à la renommée internationale, a signé l aménagement intérieur. 4 BALCONS SUR OCÉAN Ricardo Bofill est l auteur de The Vine (1 et 2), un hôtel urbain luxueux planqué dans le centre commercial Dolce Vita. La vaste terrasse creusée d un bassin de nage qui domine le port de Funchal est un lieu de rendez-vous couru, avec concerts de jazz en juillet. La décoration, réalisée par la décoratrice madérienne de renom international Nini Andrade (3), qui possède l enseigne Esboço en ville (décoration, événementiel, mobilier ), reprend les gimmicks îliens. D où les sols en galets, les lavabos en lave, les douches en cascades et les jacuzzis façon levadas dans des chambres très raffinées. Quant au restaurant du chef Thomas Faudry, mieux vaut réserver pour avoir le privilège de dîner dans ce cube de verre posé sur le toit, éclairé à la bougie le soir, ouvert sur la mer et les collines perlées de lumières. Seule sur sa falaise, la structure récente englobe l ancienne quinta (maison noble de l île) da Rochinha devenue véranda avec cheminée et jardin. Les 44 chambres monacales qui dominent la mer ont été décorées par Carvalho Araujo qui a saupoudré du mobilier design et des œuvres d art urbain 5 ici et là.
