Student Activities Call for applications: Lee Shiu Summer Programme the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at osa@cuhk.edu.hk About the Programme Since 1998, Dr. Lee Shiu and Dr. Jennie Mui Lee have initiated and sponsored various leadership programmes at several universities in Hong Kong, with the mission to nurture talents for the modernization of China. In the summer of 2014, a four-week programme organized by the University of Hong Kong, which crosses the borders of Hong Kong, Beijing and other Chinese cities will bring together 64 committed and outstanding students from Hong Kong, China and the USA, to undertake a collaborative study on the theme "In Preparation for 2047: Building a Creative Society of Integrity and Benevolence".

2 2 During the programme, the participants will study in groups in five important areas: Ethics and Integrity Civil Society Rule of Law Environment, Technology & Sustainable Development Social Mobility & Gap between Rich and Poor Study in Three Cities Hong Kong: July 2014 Study at four cities in groups: July 2014 Beijing: 31 July 9 August 2014 Eligibility All full-time undergraduate students can apply. Applicants should have a good command of English and Chinese, in particular Putonghua. Limited quota for CUHK students! 4 4 Let's Talk: Youth Summit on Hong Kong Elections On December 4, 2013, the Hong Kong Government published a Consultation Document on the Methods for Selecting the Chief Executive in 2017 and for Forming the Legislative Council in The students in Hong Kong s institutions of higher education are an important part of the community, and many of you are also eligible voters. You are cordially invited to participate in a weekend discussion and debate on the Consultation Document, with a view towards drafting a response representing student views to the Hong Kong Government. Details of the event are as follow: Date: March 2014 : The Chinese University of Hong Kong and an Overnight camp at Kadoorie Center, Yuen Long Number of Intake: 50 Application Deadline: As soon as possible (first come first served) All expenses will be covered by the center. Participants will join university students from the US to provide voluntary services to the Mainland students in rural area. Attending all pre-trip meetings in preparation of the service programme with the US students is mandatory. Moreover, participants will travel to Wuhan by High Speed Rail in order to understand the development of the transportation system on the Mainland.
